That engine is going to be a beast, and a saxo killer for sure....

You never know, I should be able to match the power of a VTS.

EFi is the way forward! :proud: Soo much potential for tuning as well with them Specialist Components kits. Love the work you have done so far. One of my favourite builds on here.

Well I have just read every word from start to finish and it took hours! I just couldn't put the laptop down.

this is a brilliant build and I have no idea why I didn't come across it sooner. At points, I thought you were mad, especially when you re-did the boot floor after all the time and effort you put into the first one and then again when you cut all the bulkhead out! I do appreciate why you did it and have to say, you have far more patience than me!

Your skill is mad, everything seems so effortless. I wish I could have the chance to work in a Mini garage, that's gotta be the best job ever!

Anyway, now I found this I will stay tuned.

Looking great!

Ben

Wow Ben I can't believe you managed to read the whole thing at once. It's definitely a roller coater build thread.

Working on classics is pretty cool, I've been putting independent suspension into a MK1 Capri recently.  ;D

That looks like it based on sierra parts? And a later car with rear discs?

I think we've got about 20 spare transfer casings, they had to come in handy at some point.

The diff, drive shafts and hubs are from a 4x4 Sierra Cosworth and the uprights, arms and rear chassis are all custom. I'll get some more pics up once it's all done and rolling around.

Wow Rob thanks, hopefully there'll be many more cool things on the way.

I finished off the new SC mount above the clutch cover today. The basic design is the same but moved about a bit to suit the 1275 block.

I also made a couple of ears to steady pulley end of the SC.

This is my 4th attempt at a tensioner for the belt system. This is the closest I've got to doing the job so far.

I went to the Castle Combe Mini action day over the weekend and picked up a x-pin diff and a heavy duty steel clutch arm. I like shinny parts.
IMG_4027_zps8114a53f.jpg

Taking the air filter backing off the throttle was a huge nightmare as I had to disassemble half of it to get at any bolts but it's off now ready to go into the car for mock up.
IMG_4032_zps47da7605.jpg

The engine is leant back a little more that standard to clear the radiator so I'm going to have a little bump in the bulkhead for the plenum, more on that latter.

Now that the engine's back in with the charger and throttle body mounted I've turned my attention to the engine steadies.

I started with a pair of old suspension tie rods, cut them down and gave them a clean of the bench grinder.

IMG_4087_zps768c9105.jpg

Both steadies use a 5/16 UNF turnbuckle and a rose joint on the engine side. The old tie bar will be threaded and bolt through the body with a rubber bush on each side.

The R/H steading will be bolted to the standard position on the block and the body side will bolt through the engine bay crossmember.

The L/H steady is mounted to a bracket on the water pump that I made a while ago and will go through the crossmember the same way as the R/H steady.
