Thanks mini93 it's good of you to take the time to look through the whole thing.

Ben the only way a 1275's going near this car is if it's got a KAD 16V head on it.

This afternoon I decided it was about time I did something about the dodgy rear step sill so I welding in a brace tube and then cut out of the old sill.

I also got the new sections cut top replace it but they're to long for our folder so I need to run them to the fabricators around the corner and have them fold them for me.

I made a new slam panel brace with some pretty swaged holes in it. It should to a lovely job of keeping everything stiff and clear the new rad nicely.

Poor old FOM's looking it bit dull still but it shouldn't be long now until he's rolling and ready to have body would done.

I thought I'd best pop down the workshop this afternoon and do a some work on the estate.

I made a little tool to help mark out the arches for tubbing.
Posted Image

Then I marked out of the cut lines inside and out.
Posted Image

Posted Image

I used a 1MM cutting disc to cut the original arch tub and an air hack saw for the quarter.
Posted Image

Posted Image

And then I stuck under it to see what it would look like.
Posted Image

I've already got the new tub pieces done so I should be able to get this side buttoned up tomorrow.

I broke out the skin pins today and got the new arch lip sectioned I made on the stretcher mounted up and then welded on after a little tweaking.
Posted Image

Posted Image

I then made a new top section for the tub and joggled one edge to sit above the old arch.
Posted Image

Posted Image

I didn't get a chance to weld the tub to the new trim lip as I got talking superchargers to a mate but I did sit a wheel in there again to ogle at.

Thanks Neil, the shrinker stretcher really is an amazing tool and it makes loads of jobs so much easier. We've come to the conclusion that this is the way we'll be doing all our tubbed arches from now on.

I used a 4.5" 40 grit flap disc as I wanted to get rid of the casting marks but a wire wheel on an angle grinder would do a good job if you didn't want them ultra smooth.

I got the passenger side tub completely welded up this morning. All I need to do now is knock the plugs welds down with a flap disc.
Posted Image

I also got the drivers side chopped out and made the new top section. Hopefully it should only take a morning to get it all welded in when I'm down on Thursday.
Posted Image

I'm also selling my swaged rear frame, if you're interested check out the sales section.
