On the O/S it was a simple case of cutting a plate the right size and welding it in.
The N/S eyeball feed was a bit trickier.
I had to do a few delicate cuts because of the tight space but it came out fairly painlessly.
I managed to rearrange the bends at the top from a dog leg to a straight line.
And got a nice little plate to fill on the big hole.
I also had a little play with my new wheels although I'm still not sure what I'm going to end up running.

I got the flap discs out today and lapped in the plate on the O/S flitch.
I also made a fillet for the gap at the top of the N/S flitch I finished welding everything in.
I also made a start on the inside of the glove box.

Once I get round to picking up this block I'll get the pre A plus one bored out and pocketed to suit the Imp pistons and 1275 head.

would it not work out cheaper to buy normal overbore pistons? i heard imp pistons were pretty expensive, could be wrong though.

I've already got a block with Imp pistons in so providing they're good (it's in Wales at the moment) all I need is new rings.
It turns out the block I striped yesterday is actually from a 997 Cooper so I got another engine to use.
A couple hours later and I've got a bare block and a a pile of bits.

I'll probably be using a local company called Leemar for the machining work on the block and then do the build in house.
I came down the the work shop this afternoon to get a subframe ready for blasting. The strip down went well aside from having to chop the N/S top arm up to get it out as the pin had seized onto the arm.
The top arm had obviously never been greased as the pin had started to eat it's way through the arm.
Now I just need to pressure wash the grease off and then send it away for blasting.
