Fom The Clubman Estate

It's a '72 Clubman estate bought on ebay for £505, it's got rusty doors all round, rotted out sills, a hole in the floor next to the battery tray and stained head liner but other than that it's pretty solid. The plan it to strip it down the a shell, give it a complete rebuild and do a few subtle mods along the way. We only just picked it up today so so far all I've done it remove the interior and start to list what needs repairing, what need replacing and what I want to add to it.
I'll get some more pictures up once I really sink my teeth into it.

It looks in pretty good nick, but I hope you are aware that there isn't much of it which dates back to 1972 (other than the number plates),
Yeh we noticed it was a reshell (cough) before we started bidding on it, but hey it's not like it's anything new on the classic car scene.
I should have some shots of it completely stripped tomorrow as I have a whole day to work on it. Hopefully it'll stay in a good nick the further I dig into it.

Is that Antique gold?
Yes. We couldn't decide wether to do it the original colour or not, and when it was just a painted shell everybody kept telling me it looked like an 'interesting' colour (ie. rubbish), but I recon, all finished with the gold stripes and the 70's brown interior it looks the business... correct me if I'm wrong!!

I have a 1275GT in antique gold.Is that Antique gold?

I reckon it must be a pretty rare colour.
I am planning to keep it the original colour with a black roof and black arches and 10" mini lights.
20 years ago I would have described it as "interesting" too but not I reckon it looks very retro.
Your car looks like you have done a top job.

Fom's looking pretty naked now. This is pretty much as far as I want to go before immobilizing him or pulling engine out which I can't do until some other stuffs moved around in the work shop. Hopefully soon I'll have the sub frames off and I can start cutting the rusty bits off.
Drivers side floor pan rusty with holes but not many.
Drivers side again rusty under the rear seat.
Passenger side floor pan rusty and dented but no holes so far.
Passenger side under the rear seat clear as a whistle no holes.
Nice big holes in the drivers side rear door frame.
Some other photos of Fom torn down.

Good luck with the project mate, mine looked in slightly worse that that and that took about 40 different pannels/patches in the end
I hope you enjoy welding haha.
Thanks dude, there's a lot less rust than I thought there would be so I'm happy and I sure my bank account will be chuffed as well. I'm not sure how much welding I'll be doing on this but I'm certainly going to try and do a bit of it.
Looks in a pretty reasonable state. Rear end and side window surrounds l;ook good. What are your plans?
Yeh it's a lot better than other estates I've seen for sale recently. The rear valence needs replacing an there's a few bubbles of rust behind the frames for the side windows but that's nothing really. I want to do it up as a bit of a techtro car and I've been thinking about sticking an SPI lump in it but for now I'm focusing on getting it sold again.
