How hard is it to fit a metro dash is there a lot of modification and cutting required?

hi everyone i thought it was about time to add another installment in the mini build diary.

i have decided to go against the a series route and am looking at the c14se or c16se engine as it isnt much more to insure as the 1275

i will be building the subframe and doing the wiring myself with the help of terry from my local mini club.

also i have started making a new bumper for the rear of my car it is a standard mini bumper moulded into a corsa bumper and i will be making a front one soon from a bmw 3 series bumper.

at the moment the rear bumper is placed on the front as it makes it easer to work on lol

the dash wasnt to bad i just removed top and bottom dash padded rails and then trimmed it to fit made sure was good tight fit(needed for me because of clearance with cage) and then had self tapping screws through the rails

then i removed and cut it for the clocks in my case different than standard.

fair play on making your own bumpers, thats a courageous move. It's certainly going to look different! :xxx:

ok cheers, how do you remove the bottom dash rail though, done the top, but idont know how to get off the bottom one, because of the choke and heater cable.

iirc from behind you can get to two small bolts just by the choke cable and heater cable these come off then it just clips on mate bit of fiddling and its off

thanx for the comments the bumpers should turn out ok i hope the first one was made for the fronty and then decided it didnt go withe the car so i have changed it to fit the rear should look ok with the two exhausts poking out (one each side) with mesh in the gap this also means my boot can be smoothed as the no. plate will go nicely in the recess

the car is now going satin black with silver union jack on the roof and also one on the smoothed boot. and maybe some silver flames coming from the mini laurels painted on the rear 1/4 but not sure on the latter

Don't forget you'nn need to light up that number plate ;-)

Should look so much better than most smooth bootlids that almost always end up with the number plate looking like an after thought stuck on somewhere.
