my dads cars have been vadalised 4 times in malvern

Thanks for that, lol :D

Nah - We're nearer the common ... out of the main drag & town! ;)

Infact - One of our neighbours owns a Mini!! :D :)

Hi Twincam! Thanks! The dinner was quite, quite tasty, lol

The chimneys are fine - We checked them thoroughly before we lit the fire - Also made sure that there was no smoke escaping anywhere that it shouldn't! The chimney itself gave us a nice breeze, when we gave it a quick sweep before hand, so think everything should be OK.

It will, eventually, benefit from a full sweep, but think we'll get that done when we re-instate both upstairs fires!! :)

That's a great looking house Bean! I can imagine it has so much potential and you seem to be taking it in the right direction! Nice choice on the Aga too, I'd love one of those. What does yours run on?

House looks great guys, congratulations & good luck.

We finished our third one last year. I said I'd never do another but I got a bit bored hence the mini.

A few tips that helped me on the last house (experience learnt from the first 2)

Don't skimp on cheap fittings, (switches, sockets, door handles, accessories etc) you'll only regret it and end up buying them twice.

Keep receipts and packaging for everything until your sure you're going to use it. If you aint using it, take it back. I had an ongoing challenge on every visit to the likes of B&Q etc to get more back at the refund desk than I spent at the checkout. (Only managed it twice but it highlights how much you can spend on stuff you'll never use)

And, the one that helped me the most.

Once you have done all the essential work and it comes to fitting / decorating. Start in one room, any room, and don't do any work anywhere else until you have finished it completely. Right down to the last picture hook. Then move on and do the same, room by room.
It saves you having to constantly go back and gives you motivation to finish, as you want to move on to the next project. (My pal rebuilt his house 6 years ago and to date only has one room fully completed as he's always starting something else)!

Look forward to seeing the progress

Regards

Steve

Fankoo! :( I absolutely love it! It had tonnes of potential. Like I said in our offer letter initially - It's obviously such a well-loved house, cared for house. I would have hated a developer to get their hands on it - It's somewhere that deserves to have a family in it, not be turned into flats! (It would have been so easy to do, too!)

The Aga, at the moment, is gas - But we were going to convert it to solid fuel. However, I'm not sure that it will be going in our house now - We've bought a range cooker for the kitchen, simply for convenience - We're both really busy people, who love cooking & being in the kitchen at the same time - So I'm not sure how it would cope. We'll have to think about it though - I love the idea of one though, so we'll have to see! If not, we might have to save it for when we build the massive garage out the back!! :-

House looks great guys, congratulations & good luck.

Look forward to seeing the progress

Regards

Steve

Thank you ever-so much, Steve. I really appreciate the pointers! :) I think you're right with the decor and I will have to keep myself re-strained, lol. I'm one of those people that likes to do a million things at once, lol.

Still - I lived in a mobile home for 18 months, whilst my parents were renovating our house (Converted Oast House/Hop Kiln) - So living amongst decorating & building works should be a doddle, lol - At least I'll have a proper bed and some form of heating, lol. (Our mobile was a summer-spec mobile, with no insulation - And then our gas fire broke, lol - We were there for 2 winters!! :ermm:)

Thanks again! I really look forward to being able to comment on the progress! :)

This looks amazing Bean
That kitchen, ive never been jealouse of a kitchen before but i am of that haha!

Love older houses, new ones just have no character or cool little niggles etc. That driveway has MASSIVE potential to either a really long garage or an awesome car-port :-

Everyone on here seems to be buying houses lately. One day ill be able to afford my own place lol and ill probably spend more money on the garage than the house itself lmao!

Good look with it all anyways :(

Thanks B-Man :)

I'm a sucker for older houses, too - It's something about the feeling you get when you're in them. Knowing that it was craftsman built, with such lovely features!

Ours was built after 1905, but not entirely sure when - I've got some research to do on that! But it means that the house isn't typically Victorian - It is on the cross-over between that and Edwardian - So it's not over-the-top with decoration.

Suits me down to the ground, really - Lends itself to a sympathetic design - We can keep all of the original features, but still incorporate the modern & essentials!!

:)
