eBay, under £10, lol >_<

Heh! Fanks! It's not bad actually, and there's a little fairy light curtain behind the bed, just to make it a little more cosy, lol :(

And that, my friends - Is a WORKING COOKER!!

However, this is where I need the help from some legal eagles ... :)

This is the first time the cooker has been plumbed in and lit.

Unfortunately, one of the gas rings & the grill just do not stay lit when the controls are released. They light fine, but as soon as you let go, it goes out again. The other 7 rings and both ovens are fine!

Unfortunately, we took delivery of the oven in February 2010, so it's out of its 1 year warranty :(

Now, ordinarily, if I had used this oven every day for a year, that would be fine, but it's never, ever been switched on - Is there anything I can do to get this replaced - It's obviously faulty, but without having any gas in the kitchen, it was impossible to test it!!

Help! :(

Sorry Bean but i reckon they won't honour the warranty as anybody could say they haven't had it connected and try and claim it as faulty.

Looking very nice Ms bean, lots getting done.

Re the cooker:

It sounds like a possible problem with the thermocouple. (safety device that stops gas escaping if the flame is not lit).

If it is, it's probably a simple & cheap repair. Maybe even a loose fixing/ connection which is worth a look. (search gas thermocouple on Google images and you'll see what one is if you don't already know)

Important: I am suggesting to check but it is actually illegal to work on a gas appliance unless qualified / registered so be careful what you touch.

The obvious alternative is to contact the manufacturer or suplier & explain. Most companies with an eye for customer service will be happy to help and at worst, may send FOC parts in the post.

Let us know how you go on.

Regards

Steve

I think I'll ring them tomorrow and see if they can do anything about it - I'm not really holding out much hope, but I'd rather ring them first than to have to get someone in to look at it.

Udo - You're probably right  It's just such a stupid situation to be in, but we never expected it would take over a year to get it in, lol :) They can see that it's never been used though - It's spotless inside and out!

Steve - Thanks for the info - Hopefully it's as easy as you say! I'd definitely get someone in to do it though - It's not something I'd want to mess about with really!

One very quick check might be to lift off the covers, (as if you were cleaning) and just do a quick visual check for any loose / missing connection on the faulty ring. It could be as simple as replacing a spade connector.

Good luck

We did have a look earlier, but there's absolutely nothing obvious at all, but will see if we can investigate further. Still, nice to know that I can now cook on a massssive oven, not on 2 little camp stoves!! :P
