Hello where should the vin number and chassis number be dispalyed on a 1980 mini GT 1275 ?
would like to know if my engine is the original one

The commission number is on the left and the car number is to the right on the slam panel. The engine number is riveted on the right of the engine under the no1 spark plug. I don’t think you can identify the year it was made from that number. Your v5 should have the engine number or part of it on it. If you don’t have an engine I’d plate post some pictures on here and someone could possibly give you a rough estimate of its date which I couldn’t do. The pic is a 75 gt but I think your 80 plates will be on the panel somewhere. VIN plates came into use in 81 so yours would probably not have one.
