Hi,

I have a cooper sport MPI with sportspack fitted and was thinking about putting 10 inch wheels on it. Are there any on the market that will fit without having to change the brakes?

Thanks

Theres the aftermarket replica cooper s wheels that fit over 8.4" disks. People say they fill sportpack arches quite nice.

There are alternative bodges to fit 10" on a sportpack, but the safest option is to convert brakes to cooper s discs and fit 6x10 wheels.

as above really. they are your only option if you don't want to start making mods to your brakes. These have a big offset so the wheels are actually outside of the largest part of the caliper. Having said that should give the same sort of width as your sportspacks now so will fill your current arches without issue.

Would it not look a bit odd with the huge gap around the wheels? Are sportspack models not with larger arches diameter-wise to prevevt rubbing with 13s? In theory the above is possible, but it woudl look a bit odd in my opinion, with the arches filled too little.

Hi

Would the large offset wheels be a safe option i.e. would there be any issues with the strength of the wheel - this does look like an option because I do not want to be using spacers. Is there any other wheel options with the larger offsets to allow to without changing the brakes that look more like a sports pack wheel? I assume that the car would handle better with the 10 inch wheels

Thanks for the quick replies

If you want handling and 10" wheels, then you're only option is to convert to Cooper S 7.5" disks or 7.9" Disks, the latter restrict the variations of 10" wheels you can use...

Hey,
I have an S reg MPI on 10's. I converted my brake setup to the MiniSport 7.9" 4pot Kit, the brakes are very good. I'm on 10"x6" Minators now from my original 12" Pepperpots, the handling is so much better. I'll pop up some pictures later if you want because i'm on my phone now.

Does it make a difference if you take a 7.5" or 7.9" kit for 10 inch on a MPI or what so ever ? The 13 inch wheels will standard fit those 7.5 en 7.9 I suppose. I'm gonna go for 10x7 wheels so the 7.9" of Minisport will be a good choice ?
You don't have to convert the rear setup, the 10 inch wheels will fit there ?

I think I would put this, but 'technically' you cant run 10x7s on road tires, as the widest made are 165s, and they're only supposed to be on 6" wheels, many people have fitted 165s to 7"s.
There are no mods needed to rear brakes of you already have discs.

Ok so no worries about the rear then, the little spacer that they standard used on a MPI sportspack will have to go.

Was thinking about the Yokohama A032R 167/70 but they will be a bit stretched indeed.

This kit is what I have in mind if it will fit my MPI : http://www.minisport...aliper_Kit.html
Because I want to go to a stage 3 in the future and I want to get the brakes right at once.

In the style section of the forum is a pinned thread for minis on 10" wheels. There are a few mpis on 10s in there with sportspack arches.

Awakening this thread as I am looking (not finding 175 50 13 tires...

I would go to 10" wheels on my MPI before I considered 12s...

Any good 10" wheel options for MPIs these days?? I recall some guy building a prototype wheel that would bolt right on - just before a big relocation that took me away from my mini for quite a while...

As said in earlier posts the safest option is to convert the front disc brakes to the Cooper S discs and fit 6x10 wheels.

This wheel linked below are 'Deep Dish' versions by Minilite and have the extra offset needed to fill the Sportpack MPi arches with Cooper S Disc brakes.

GENUINE MINILITE 6x10" ALLOY WHEEL. DEEP DISH

Offset ET-15, SPECIAL 70mm backspace made for the Japan market originally.
This gives 4.25" outer wheel edge from hub face.
Supplied with wheel nuts and centre caps:-

BRAKE CONVERSION KIT 8.4" TO 7.5" DISC BRAKES

12" (and 13" MPI) wheel to 10" wheel running gear conversion kit. Less wheels
This kit will convert your 8.4 disc set up to the original Cooper S 7.5 discs to allow fitment of 10" wheels, kit includes discs, calipers, pads with split pins and drive flanges with new screws:-

https://www.minispar.../MSSK013MS.aspx

Or cheaper kit with Minispares calipers:-

BRAKE CONVERSION KIT 8.4" TO 7.5" BRAKES USING MS CALIPERS

This kit is as per MSSK013, but with Minispares calipers:-
