The only difference I can see is that the Minispares one has a stainless back box, not sure from the photo what the LCB is made from. either would do what you want and give you about 8 BHP. It does make a noticeable difference and sounds better, of courseYou will need a new needle for the carb though, if its not included.

According to the description the more expensive one comes with Stainless Steel back box, although it doesn't seem to be shown in the picture.

LCB's seem to get mixed revues for 998's one of the articles by Keith Calver states the freeflow is the better option but it also says in the same article the proper LCB developed for the 998 is the best but clarifys by saying not all kits come with the correct LCB.

Also both those kits come with cone filters these are very noisey and a lot of people on here will tell you the standard airbox with extra holes drilled using a K&N element is better.

I would not fork out an extra £90 just for a stainless back box. I fitted the mini sport one to a 998 and it was fine. Heavy wall tubing lasted for years and a chromed tail pipe

Yep. I bought it from Mini sport as I used to live not too far away. All the pipes were painted too. I think it was about £120 about 10 years ago.
After I fitted it, it used to go up hills much better.

my mechanic seems to like the minispares kit, because they fit better. he hates minisport because (to him) they are crap to fit, and the quality isnt as good! im going to splash out on a minispares one for my 1275.

I've stuck with the Freeflow and RC40 set on my 1330 (has it on my 998 as well). The Calver article suggested that the Freeflow was good up to about 90bhp so I have not shelled out for an LCB at this stage. Not hard to fit and makes a nice, subtle noise as well!

Theres nothing wrong with the LCB manifold, espescially if you want an extra grunt at higher revs.
On the other side, the cooper freeflow is loads easier to fit, no need to mess with the Y piece and trimming flanges thickness to cope with the inlet manifold flanges.

what sort of power increase would you see if you went from a 1275 with hs4 to 1275 with stage one and hif44 carb?

About 10 bhp, depending on your engine conditions and what 'stg 1' means (ie: if you get a stg 1 kit with a 2" exhaust i dont think u'll gain more than 5 bhp..)

I'm guessing a bit here, but I would imagine around 8 to 10 BHP, that sort of region
