how did you do the rear subframe? I'm thinking of doing the rotary swap except with the Renesis outta the RX8 and into a Mini Van.

I used a Volvo rear axle from a 245, but you could use an old Ford axle or something alike...
4-link and panhard from Escort mk2. Welded the link-boxes to the floor, and welded it all to the rear cage. Gaz coilovers from Mini.
It is alot of welding involved to make it strong enough for 400 bhp, s.o hopefully you know what you are doing
if you got deeper pockets than me, I would reccomend to use something like Z-cars' RWD subframe. It's bolt on and go...

It has a rotor rather than pistons.

This shows it pretty well:

Technicaly its better as there is only one moving part, however to maintain a constant seal the rotors have a specail tip to form a seal, but as the seals have to work on all parts of the combustion process they cannot be lubricated. This means that rotarys should be rebuilt every 60,000k.

It is quicker though as there is not cam shaft so they engine can rev higher without the posibility of piston the valve contact, or chains/belts snaping due to the high reves (9,000-10,000rpm)

Long time since this has been updated, but things are happening as we speak... The looks of the car is beeing upgraded, and "RXMini Mk3" will appear on this forum some time in the "near" future. The engine has been shi****ing on me this year, but I think we have sorted it out. It will be running higher boost next year, and I am aiming for +400whp in 2012. The suspension will get an upgrade, and the welded diff will be replaced with a LSD, to allow higher speed through corners.
This thing is, and always will be, built by an amateur in a shed, but it is amazingly fun and easy to drive. It has been tested by drivers who usually drives factory-built racecars like Cup-Porsches and GT1-cars, and they have all been extremely surpriced by the driveability and speed. They whip my ass on the track, but i bet I have just as much fun! Have a nice holyday!!
