...Im looking forward to the new moke just to see what its like. Another classic name coming back for a new generation who have never even seen a moke at all and helps people back in to mini. What you out of date repeaters moaning "not a mini" seem to forget the MINI as rekindeled many people interest in the classic, This in turn many have brought a classic and own two cars. A good thing in my mind. As for coming up with there own names for the cars they did and guess what people moaned about it!

preach it, brother, preach it!

No stuff it, I'm an atheist and I don't listen to boring preachers.

Good Lord...
Make sense of the ambiguity to launch anything with the name "Mini" on it - in Detroit !

Im not preaching just telling as it is! a fact some people just dont like- buy a new mini, drive it, love it and then buy a classic, love it even more, more fun, more on the road and less on the scrap heap!

Makes sense as the USA is the biggest market for the MINI (UK 2nd, Germany 3rd) and will buy more of the 4x4 versions of MINI's whether Countryman or Moke............

Where would you like them to launch the concept then??

It's not like they can launch them at a British Motor show... we don't have one.

No you're preaching, but some of us really don't care a stuff about BMW and it's boring products. If you happen to like it then fine, but don't try preaching to those who simply aren't interested.

No I'm not preaching at all! If you as you say don't give a stuff about any BMW products why the he'll do you read these threads? There are many members on here who own both and some who only own the classic but like the new
one. So don't read them that's a simple fact and leave threads like this to members of the forum who aren't stuck in there ways and have moved on from the anti/I hate etc crap which needed to die out a bloody long time ago!!
Ok I know you don't like them and that's totally ok with me but it always seems to me that you like to come on here and wind people up. I like having a good debate with any one but when it starts getting nasty then it's time to stop.

I'm not anti or I hate anything or stuck in my ways and I've moved on plenty of times too, but as far as I'm concerned there is only one Mini and I've chosen to own one for years because I love them very much.

I've been a member of this forum for some time and I certainly don't come on here to wind people up. I can also view whatever thread I want and I like a good debate too, especially when it gets one sided and someone is spouting carp.

But I don't like people who come out with things like 'preach it, brother, preach it!'

That's just mind washing and disturbing in a KKK type of fanatical way. Plus you've got a bloody cheek having a go at me after coming up with 'preach it, brother, preach it!'

Sorry and yes 'hardingsan' came out with the preaching bit.

Plus I'm not having a go either, I'm just defending myself and Issi's finest.

From Autocar magazine at the Detroit Motor Show today:
"This is the MINI Beachcomber concept, unveiled today at the Detroit motor show. The Mini Beachcomber's body, dimensions and drivetrain are shared with the MINI Countryman; just add doors and a roof and remove a few of the more outlandish concept car touches, such as the tailgate-mounted spare wheel.
The Countryman sits on a modified version of the Clubman’s platform that has been stretched and widened to create a car that is roughly the same size as the new Volkswagen Polo. It’s a layout that could also be used for a more off-road-oriented model.
The production car’s dimensions will be the same as the concept’s, making it the first Mini to be more than four metres long. “Four metres was a border that was heavily discussed within the company,” said Mini design boss Gert Hildebrand.
The rear doors will be front-hinged, and the side-hinged tailgate of the concept will be replaced by a normal top-hinged hatch.
Mini wants the Countryman to offer what BMW’s head of development, Klaus Draeger, has described as “a serious proposition for those who want a family car”.

The driveline consists of a transversely mounted engine that provides drive to all four wheels through an electronically controlled, multi-plate-clutch four-wheel drive system similar to that employed in BMW’s X1.
The Mini’s set-up will be called ALL4 and it will feature a six-speed manual gearbox. But front-wheel drive will be standard on the entry-level models.
While Mini is not making big noises about the Beachcomber’s engine, Autocar can confirm the Countryman will be sold with 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines at launch. The appearance of a sizeable air duct within the Beachcomber’s bonnet hints at a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol powerplant, though. This is most likely to be the 173bhp unit from the Cooper and Clubman S.
The Countryman will also be available with a 120bhp naturally aspirated version of the same 1.6-litre petrol motor, as well as a 110bhp 1.6-litre common-rail diesel. All of these units will come with stop-start and brake energy regeneration.
Later on, Mini is expected to create a JCW Countryman with a range of new turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines taken from the BMW stable."
