Hello all,

My old man has just been out to Halfords and brought a set of Vibe 6x9's they had on offer (Vibe Slick 69.2) for his own Mini. He only wanted to wire them up to a small amp or a head unit however upon taking them out of the box it says on the back that their minimum power RMS is 70w. I didn't think speakers had a minimum power rating or is this just the power you have to put through them for them to operate at their best? Will they be OK running at Head Unit power (27w RMS I think ours is rated at) or off something like a small amp (say, 35/40w RMS)?

Thanks, Dave.

what head unit you got? 27wrms is very powerful for a HU, normally around 10-18wrms (per channel into 4ohms)

what's the maximum wrms of the 6x9's?

Right, just spoke to the old man . The manual for the Head Unit can be found here for those who are interested. It's a Pioneer DEH-P77MP.

The following info is took straight from the manual:

I sorta assumed that DIN 45324 was a technical term for RMS. The speakers are rated at 140W RMS, yet they show in the instructions that they can be wired up to a head unit even though they are rated at 70W RMS Minimum.

Dave.

Anyone? Someone must have some experience with Vibe gear.
