ok i got a mini maufair 1982 have finish rebuilding it a rew months ago.
after a couple of week found that the underlay was wet. i thought is was coming in from the small holes and a few bad seals on the bulkhead so striped the car down welded all the small holes up and painted all new.

now thats all done water still coming in. now the weathers bad i can see water coming in through the new front window seal. its a brad new wider verison.. looks like its is not coming through the seal but where the window goes in to the rubber its coming through in the corners. any ideas how i can solve the problem.

really annoying. it shouldn't leak with a new seal from mini sport.

when fitting a new or old sreen rubber it will need some sealant around the rim to make sure it will not leak , then fit the fininshing strip and leave for 24hrs in the dry to cure . some do seal without but most do leak and need the extra

mini not leaking from the outer seal but in theslot where the screen sits.

if i put some seal in would that fix it or do i have to take the screen out again.

Take it out again. IMO buy the older narrower seal, then put some gobbo on the car where the seal sits, then inside the seal where it meets the car and then inside the seal again where the screen sits.

Make sure you dont tear it fitting it either, dont use WD40 as it damages the rubber. Use a soapy water mixture and a washing line to pull the seal in.

Get some sealant called Arbomast. Most windscreen companies will sell you a tube if you ask nicely. Take the filler strip out and squeeze some sealant in between the glass and rubber. Refit the filler strip and clean off any excess. Doesn't matter which rubber you use as they should both be sealed in this way.
If you can't get any Arbomast let me know and i'll post some to you if you pay postage.

The advantage with Arbomast is when it dries it doesn't actually stick like most other sealers. This is good for when you want to replace your screen at a later date. If you can't obtain any from your local windscreen company then it can be ordered online from
http://www.rejel.com/category/62.aspx

1 tube will do at least 2 screens.
