Hay. On the block and crankshaft is code 12g1279, on 3 pistons is code mowog t40 and on 1 is b2. Valves are 29 and 33 mm.
What is this engine?
Thank you

I've just used the attachment in the first post and when I found my engine, 12HD24, was a bit taken back to find its Leaded.

I just assumed it was Unleaded when I bought it so didn't think to ask. How do I know if its been converted? I don't want to run it on unleaded and destroy it if it hasn't be done.

Having recently bought a mini city e on a 1991 plate, it has been fitted with a 1275cc engine, having found the engine numbre on the log book which is 12M899AA108313, i cannot find this number anywhere on the records you have, could you please tell me the age of this engine and whether or not it is safe to run this engine on unleaded fuel, as the previous owner had used a lead replacement supplement, thanks for any help

Hello all!

Just been checking over my Mini and thought i'd try and find out abit more about my engine.#

Engine number is 12H907AA ****** and its an MG Metro engine (I hope)

I have had a good ol' search round TMF and google but didn't find anything concise and what I did find just confused me a bit!

I know from the numbers that its a 1275 Transverse but thats all I can tell.

Thanks for your help in advance!

i'VE GOT A 1988 Mini City E. The clutch was gone sooff I went to Minispares and bought a Verto Clutch, lo and behold, I get the flywheel off and it's a pre verto clutch! I know, I should have checked the engine number in the first place but I never thought.

The engine number is - 99H79IPZ503700

According to the list it's an A-series from 1974 onwards? This has really done my head in, I never gave it a second thought.

I picked up a project shell (Mini Mk I) a few years back that included an engine/trans.

The engine ID tag reads "38G390"
The aluminum engine size plate reads "1100"
The dished pistons are marked "MOWOG" with M2007 and a 3 with caret over it
The bore is approx 2.545"
It's mated to an Austin America type gearbox with yoke type outputs and remote shifter.

It looks like it might have been painted all over in silver spray paint (silverseal?) but the PO had started to paint it robins egg blue.

It doesn't appear in any engine listing I've seen.

Anyone have any idea of what vintage/what spec?

Cheers,

Jim

not really, engine numbers spanned many years, but I believe that you can get the information from heritage as they will x-ref the engine number to the original vehicle, and hence the 'manufacture date' of the car. Think it'll cost you about £30.

Hi all i have the chance to buy a metro engine which has only done about 38,000 miles, the engine is in the car and i have had the chance to take the car for a good 5 mile drive before the car goes of to the scrap heap, what i am trying to find out is the engine one that is worth buying or should i hang on for another mg engine, or maybe even how easy is it to upgrade this engine to provide the same power output as the mg lump.
I will have to change the head as i think it is a leaded one.
The details i have are

12H D09 136***

cheers
