I’ve spent the day fitting and welding the brackets needed to attach it to the front valance, which is actually a rear one welded in place of the lower half of the front one.

Just need to finish some welding and weld on my home made flip front hinges and it’s time to brake out the Fiberglass and filler to blend it all in.

VW Golf? :shy: Very decent - I think I like it >_<

Do you have a W&P arch to try? I think it might look even cooler if the arch runs down smoth into the front valance and the 'line' get's extended by the spoiler - if you get my idea?

Yep it's a mk1 VW Golf narrow front sploiler.

Funny you should mention that, i was atone time considering extending the front arches and squaring off the front corners, as the wheels do scrub ever so slightly on lock.
Not too sure, i might blend the spoiler in and decide from there, but i can see what your saying.

Thanks  I’ve got to do something to keep me occupied in between trying to find a job, besides thanks to the events over the last few months I can no longer afford the parts for my engine. Well I could but would be a very drawn out process and would prefer to get that done all in one go, so I’ll do as much as I can on the other stuff that needs doing.

Still that spoiler, even though I’ve had to wait a month for the royal mail not to deliver it, only cost just over a tenner posted.

ok i like how it looks but WHY!! :)

WHY??????, well because i have had idea’s for this mini that are different from the norm or are slight variations on old ones. Besides I wanted the front to look different to other minis on the road, I have a completely standard 25, so this is my weekend toy if you like.

I’m not a fan of body-kited minis although if done well they can look quite good. The idea behind the spoiler is to clean up the front by removing the number plate and making it look lower and to also cover up my extended flip front hinges.
Because the problem I had with the last ones I made/tried was the front valance catched the subfame, so by extending the pivot point feather downwards should solve the problem but then leaves the hinges exposed.
Besides the lowest part of the front a mini is the gearbox casing so speed ramps shouldn’t be a problem.

On a side note, what would the best way for me to blend this in? P38 fiberglass paste with a small amount of body filler mixed in so it’s easier to sand or the fiberglass mat, resin route?

I've come across this...

Posted Image

I'm now tempted, as my hinges and the welding is done, just need a few flappy disks to grind the welds down, to extend and blend the front arches into the front valance, but keeping the lip for the trim.

The easiest way of doing that i can think of is to use the front corner of an old set of group 2 wide or group 5’s. Should work providing I can find a broken set for next to nothing.

I’m also keen on those mirrors as well, oh well I’ve just made more work for myself Lol.
