Hi all

Small update, located and fitted the clutch master reservoir (thank you to Retroracer 1275 http://www.theminifo...05#entry2409859)

And I plumbed in the oil breather pipes, just need another 19mm 3 way connector to finish it off.

Hi ministar

Yes it seems like a good place for it, as I could not find another location for it that did not need any mods to make it fit.

As for a oil thermostat, no I'm not running one.

Cheers

Really impressed with this, been following it for a while now! As soon as i pick my new car up, which hopefully will be today, i'll be taking mine off the road and starting its transformation into a stage rally car. Been starting too collect bits, getting expensive already! :P

Where abouts are you based? And most importantly, when are you planning on having it finished?! :D

Hey there Tahiti Joe, I'm very glad you have been enjoying my build. I can't wait to see your rally mini when you start your build.

Well I'm based in Jersey in the channel islands, I need to have ready before July for a Multi Surface Rally, this rally is part of the criteria so I can ensure I get an entry into the main jersey rally in October

Let me know when you start your thread ok.

Cheers

Kevin

Hi all

Carried out a bit of work today.

A tool I ordered turned up, so I was able to secure the clip which holds the cv boot in place, I then toruqued up all of the bolts for the suspension and caliper.

Posted Image

Fitted the flexie brake line to the caliper and fitted the carbon metallic pads.

Posted Image

I took apart my other hardy spicer and replaced the uj part of it and cleaned it up, all ready for refitting with uprated bolts.

Posted Image

I have got next week off, so expect some more updates.

Cheers

Kevin

Are you fitting the mechanical fan, or just having the electric one? Had a look through the topic but couldnt see it anywhere.

Nice build!

Hi Jonny f

I was just going to have the electric one, do you suggest that I keep the mechanical one on as well?

Glad you like the build.

I am doing exactly the same, so was just interested in the outcome. Read positive things about doing it and negative things.

The only time my engine ever got hot was sitting in traffic so thats why i am doing it, also helps with clearances and maybe gaining a little bit of power.

My research told me to ensure that the radiator has no gaps around it or as little gaps as possible to ensure all air goes through the rad rather than around it!

Hey guys i've been in the same situation as you with the machanical fan. The way i looked at it was, there is no direct airflow to a side mounted radiator, which in itself is a problem. On a standard road car i would of thought the engine will be under very little stress there for not really requiring alot of cooling. But on a rally car i think you might have problems as you will be reving the nuts off your engine but there is still little airflow as you could be reving high but only in 1st, 2nd and thrid so not going quick enough to get the airflow. Again its down to a matter of opinion and proof in the eating of the pudding but i've decided to stick with the mechanical fan as the only downside is about 3bhp at high revs, which i think i can live with if it causes me less problems with over heating etc lol. By the way mate this is a very nice build and i have been following this thread. Keep it up :)
