Hi all

A bit more work carried out on the mini thhis weekend, got all of the cage in place ready to get every thing marked up for drilling and welding.

I'm not looking forward to drilling all of the holes in the door/dash bar sleeve's, thats about 44 holes I have to drill >_<

Thanks to Mark for the subframe. I did a spot of welding this weekend as well, I copied some of the subframe strengthening pictures from the Bill Sollis book

(please not comments on my welding lol)

A few more bits turned up, like these weld in seat mounts

Any way cheers for now.

Hi all

right then I have now completed the subframe and toparms, finished off in tough coat black paint. I also rebuilt my hubs and calipers.

I should have it as a rolling shell by this weekend.

Then I will rip the rear subframe out!

Cheers

Subframe strengthening looks good, but did you do the most important bit - the tie bar mounts? These are notorious for tearing away in competition cars.

hi GraemeC

I have run some extra welds around the tie bar mounts. I have got an old vizard book with a section on offroad bodyprep, it's shows a picture of a subframe with extra plates welded in under the tie bar mounts, but I just can't make them out, so if you can help out with this that would be cool.

Thanks kevin

In this photo you can just make out the triangulation pieces that tie the mount back to the subframe more effectively:

Alright Kev

Im Back on the rock now so can I come down have a look at the car this week Glad you got some use out of that Sub frame. Did you send your motor away in the end?
Project is looking good and this car defiantly needed this attention to give it a new lease of life. Any target dates yet?

For any body who cares, Kevin owned my mini before I made it into a Z cars. I saved it! Got a picture of it Kev in all its glory?

See ya soon

Hi Kev - looking good...! Weld in cage is a nightmare, did mine last summer.. (which was your old one!)

If your cage isnt welded in yet can you take a measurement of the bar accross the dashboard?? Want to know how clost it is to the A pillar bars as I have to make one..

Cage makes a huge difference to the car - a must for us serious racers..!

see you soon

Hi mark and andy.

Thanks for the comments on the car. I have not sent the engine away, I have decided to save the cash and overhaul it my self (with the help of bill sollis DVD).

I will be at the garage tomorrow from about 6:30 so feel free to pop round, and andy no the cage is not yet installed, so u can take any measurments u need.

Cheers

Hi again

my eBay item turned up yesterday, a nice Kad bias brake pedal assy:)

Will start to rebuild the front sub frame this evening, once I have welded on them extra bits.

Cheers
