Just read the build, your work is truly inspiring, just a shame about the engine

A few more bits turned up, like these weld in seat mounts
Any way cheers for now.
Kevin
I know its a little while back, but can you remember who sold the weld in seat mount kit? Is it mini specific?
Was hoping to keep my restoration to FIA spec so I have the option of using it in competition if possible at a later date...

Looks like I'm going to need a new motor
I pulled the motor out and stripped it down and I was thinking that I only damaged the gearbox........nope.
There was more fretting on the crank and flywheel, damage to the con-rod, piston and block which was caused by the dizzy shaft. So with all that needing replacing, I think that a new motor is on the cards!
Who to use, I'm thinking of a short list MED, swiftune, Selby engineering or Harris Motorsport?
Can I have your thoughts on these builders, and maybe some recommended spec for around £3,000
Cheers
Kevin

Oh dear, that's a shame. We've got a Harris motor in ours, not sure what the spec is, my son has the details somewhere. It's a 1293 on a single 45 & runs very nicely (well it did before we took the car off the road to build it properly to rally spec.& undo the bodges undertaken by the 'builder' of it!) The car came with sheets showing 101 bhp on a dyno run just before we bought it. Good thing I can say for Mr. Harris was that my son phoned him just after we got the car & asked him if he knew any details about the engine - he remembered quite a bit & helped us build up a spec for it, as the seller didn't have much info at all. My son said he was very friendly & helpful in the call, so should the worst happen with our motor, we'd likely go back to him...!
Good luck!

I think I may go for a new flywheel, crank, pistons amongst other things ;)
Don't you just love making lists of mini parts

I'd say the rod is safe, a good time to lighten and work them!
