That looks very nicely made. Could do with getting some new trumpets for ours - the ones on there now are going rusty...!!

Hi guys

What could be causing this

I changed none of the settings (jets etc) in the carb, I only took it apart to check what the set up is. The only thing that has changed is the med stub stack.

It starts idles, but as soon as I try to rev it, it dies.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Kev

Might be that it is now flowing more air which means it is now running lean?

Mixture would be the first thing i would check, could be lean, how does it accelerate when it's choking?

As above, you'd be surprised how much difference a different filter set up will make to your fuelling requirements.

Cheers for the advice guys

I know a garage who have a full set of jets etc to try, I guess that I would also need to hook it up to an exhaust gas analyser to check the mixture.

As for what it drives like, I have not driven it, as I did not want to damage the engine incase the mixture was wrong.

Only 12 days till the rally!

I'd suggest putting it back to how it was to see if it goes. You might have an air leak somewhere.

Problem solved, nothing to do with the carb set up or air leaks, it turned out to be a fault with the stub stack itself.

On the itg back plate with the kit u can clearly see the larger hole for the float chamber.

When I lined up the lower section of the stub stack, you can see that the cut out had been milled in the incorrect position, which ment it blocked off the supply of air. I therefore had to take it to an engineering firm to mill it out correctly and with that it now all works :)

I would inform the company you got it from as it might effect a few more of there products, it's also not ideal as there rather pricey as we'll

Hi

Yes the firm in question has been informed of the issue.

So the rally is almost here, tomorrow we are setting up service, noise test and the dreaded scrutineering! Then on Friday at midday it kicks off.

Top build!! Little bit inspiring for when I get a bigger bank account. Do you know how much it weights now?

Best of luck for the rally!
