Hi and welcome to the club.

When you say you've done everything, have you tested for voltage at various connection points along the wiring harness and made sure all the connectors are clean?

If the brake, reverse and indicator lights work it's unlikely to be an earth issue.

Does the numberplate light work?

And...it might sound obvious but I assume you know for sure that the bulbs themselves are OK.

Buls are fine, no number plate light also doesn't work. It was working before I fixed the other issues !!

No sure how to test voltage....

No sure how to test voltage....

As a Mini owner it's well worth investing in some sort of voltage and continuity tester.

There are dozens of different ones on the market but a cheap one from your local car accessory shop will do. You will get one for less than a fiver.

Something like :

A very simple voltage tester can be made with a 12v bulb and 2 wires you can either solder the wires directly to the bulb or use an old bulb holder.

Simply hold one wire against a good earth point and touch the other wire on the connector or wire you want to test for voltage.

As an emergency at the side of the road I once took my interior courtesy light unit out and used it as a tester with a bit of odd wire I found simply twisted round the terminals. (make sure it's switched to the on position)

Does the dashboard light u? If not, then its possibly a dodgy connection on the fusebox. Plenty of WD40 to see if it clears it, as well as wobbling the wires and maybe some wet n dry or electrical cleaner to clean up the contacts.

OK, got a multi meter and will be check voltage etc, getting dark so may have to leave it, but last thought the only area I have had apart and not rechecked is the headlights?? Is it likely to have a feed for the rear lights via the front lights????

OK, traced that cables, fuses are good, all conections are good, but appears to have no power to the back lights!!!

So rear lights and number plate light not working (Not sure on dash lights)

Where else do I look???? Starting to loose patience......

I have checked:
Fuse box and all connections
All inline fuses under the bonnet
All connections and earths behind the front grill

i had a problem similar, my back lights, numberplate lights and dash all went!
it was down to the 4th fuse in the fuse box, you could allways test that connection (edit, you said you allready have!)
hope this helps a little

Hi i had a similar prob with no tailights or dash or number plate lights the fuse kept blowing as soon as i replaced it,the problem turned out to be the rear number plate light, the plastic stud on the lens that the copper clip slips onto had snapped so of course the slightest movement of the car and the copper clip would short out on the light housing may be worth a look.
