Monte,

How do you fit the shift paddles to the translogic unit?

The shift paddles have two-wire microswitches that are actuates when the paddles are used, which are connected through a "phone" cord and LEMO connector set to the car. The bulkhead (car) side of the LEMO wire pairs are then routed to the Powershift control box, which controls the sifter / actuator....

From this, I am assuming that they basically just bolt right up without any modification. Will you have to splice the wiring or does it plug right up? Thanks for the info...might consider this if I ever get my wish and understake a ZCar Mini project.

it'll take some wire splicing of course, but mechanically the paddles themselves work directly with a std Sparco / Momo bolt ciircle.

Cheers,

Monte

About 2 to 2.5 weeks shipping to first port of entry in the US, and then another week or so via train to Detroit...

If it's an empty box at least I won't have ot pay any customs!

Cheers,

Monte

Make sure there are no illegal's in there too. They will try anything. :dontgetit:

Good luck with the build, is your glass going via another way, Chris said that it might have problems at your end?. Looks smart though.

Yeah. Glass, brake lines, and wheels (and tires too if applicable) have to be gotten seperately, as US Department of Transportation (DOT) regs stipulate certain certifications, called FMVSS, or Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (an antiquated system to prevent sub-standard safety related components from entering the country for use with motor vehicle that can be road registered) are applied to each of these "safety related" components at the time of import.

Even things like Aeroquip brake hoses don't qualify for FMVSS even though they drastically exceed most if not all OEM vehicle requirements unless they have an FMVSS certificate.

The above rules only apply for car "assemblages" (kits) or cars that are newer than 25 years old, so in a way it would be easier to import a rusty and rotten mk2 with 200k miles and leaky / cracked brake lines, non-laminated glass, bald tires, and bent wheels than a brand new pristine kit car....

Cheers,

Monte

Guess what FINALLY showed up?

...picked it up late Friday evening from the train depot warehouse. Willie's tubular front subby (see you in a few days?) can be seen hanging from the not completely knocked down crate....

Sorting a few (hopefully minor) things with Chris right now, but other than that, it made it across the pond in one piece (along with a BIG stack of Minimags, thanks Les!!).

Cheers,

Monte
