Hi All.

I am ordering a GRP valance from Ultimini Cornwall, TR3 6DD for my Z-Cars Monte Carlo to ship to the States. The MD Ken has no problems in making it for me, but will only do local collection. Is there anyone on the forum that lives close to that address and is willing to help me get it shipped to the States. I'll pay for all packagaing, shipping, and time spent.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Aric

That's too bad you're so far Ben - it doesn't seem like anyone else is biting on the offer....maybe I'll have to pay for a road trip holiday for you to go and pick it up for me!

Sorry Aric… 199 Miles from us!

What makes this unique to what you can get here in the states?

I don't know what it is you need, but if you get this guy to send it to me, I will send it to you, but I don't live near him...
Why won't he just put it in a box and send it to you?

Its 245miles from me (490 round trip) but I am willing to take the trip in a day and collect, bring it back to mine, box it and have a business address for you to arrange collection from, via UPS or other international courier (it will probably be cheaper for you to arrange a courier rather than paying for the dollar-pound exchange). If you cover my fuel cost I will go and get it, it'll cost me approx £100 in fuel (£1.42/litre over here currently - approx as it depends how fast I drive). I can only do it on a weekend and would look to be there early-mid morning. If its ready to collect I can get it this Saturday, if its not then I might have to jiggle my calender but I am sure I can fit it in somewhere......Let me know what you think. Also let me know rough dimensions as if I cant fit it in my car I might have to take another form of transport which might cost a bit more.....

Just had a thought whilst typing, is it the unwiilingness of Ken to arrange a courier but is willing to box it for shipping? if it is then you can arrange collection via UPS or other from his place of work. If it is also the unwillingness to box it then we are back to the offer above....

Awesome Andy - I may take you up on your offer - will let you know in a week or two - thank you !!! I threw Ken a few extra $$$ to make it worth his while to ship i it to me via UPS or FedEx (which I've used many times from the UK) - we'll see if that changes his tune.

From talking to him it sounds like he either hasn't had good luck in shipping larger GRP panels before or has never done it, hence his reluctance - that, and he's never shipped overseas before.

Here's a picture of the piece, as mounted on on a Mini. It's approximately 61" X 9" X 9" in dimension.

Thanks again for your offer!

No worries, and that'll look awesome when fitted. I am thinking about making a front splitter for mine and might attempt one in the summer when I can do all my cutting of wooden templates outdoors. I should have extracted my digit earlier then I would have had somewhere to put my pre-rad for my intercooler - ho hum.......

Ah, that is a unique piece, looks cool.
If it doesn't work out, let me know if you would like to do something custom, might be able to help out.
