Just a couple of quick piccies of the rear arches now mocked up....the wheels / tires will end up sticking a bit farhter out than shown on both the front and the rear once it's all said and done. The car will also sit about 3/4 inch lower than what is in the picture too....

Cheers,

Aric

It looks like its coming together now, did you get the arches off Chris? And where are you going to make the join on the rear quarters?

Got the arches from Seven Enterprises in California - they are genuine "Fortech" flares...the ones from Chris are similar - I believe Chris's are modelled after these original ones which ran on their SCCA GT5 race car in the 1990s, but his front valance is different among other things.

On your other question, I'm thinking about making the rear arches removable via Dzus fasteners right now, as I may have to tuck the wheel well under the arch unless I decide to do a lot of arch trimming and so changing tires will be a bear without removing the whole rear end of the car...that will be removable too, but I just love Dzus....

Oh and justr for you Ian, that sort of crooked looking cardboard box is sorta where my beefy I/C is going.....I want to keep a bit of rearward visibility and it'l have fans to pull air through fed by rear side window vents or louvers...

Aric

Slow going recently as I wait for my go-way-faster and stop-way-better bits from Chris, but I thought I update everyone with some pictures of some carbon porn I've had my mate Nick, aka Carbonweezel, work on. Think I'll get any downforce with it??? Undertray diffuser will go from the engine bulkhead and pass through the rear valance, extending about 6 to 8" from the valance...

Aric,
Looking great man, your making progress! We have to get together when we both have these done. They will be an awesome pair to say the least.

So what d'ya think mates - will it fit in the back of the Monte? Saw this in a '60s Mustang at a car show here in downtown Motorcity in the dead of winter (yes, the show was inside) this weekend. Supposedly had 1200BHP+....

Attached File  DSC00362.JPG   90.53K   183 downloads

...decisions, decisions, is 360BHP enough for the Monte or should I go for the twin turbo aluminum block monster Ford V8 race motor?

Cheers!

Aric
