I had some 145 pirelli's when I first bought it, from what I understand they don't make them no more - thats a massive shame as I reckon they would put these 145 falkens to shame :(

Pirelli p3000 I think

Yes those Pirelli just seemed to go on and on and on, my Dad had the same type on his 1977 Granada to give you an idea of when they first came out.

I wonder if anyone has any feedback on these? http://www.citytyre....ESTONE_B390.htm

Thanks for the kind words mate, much appreciated but...

No, my car looks like your 998 and your 998 looks like mine because they both still look mini to the average joe, although on the looks side your mini has the upper edge!

Blimey, read all this over past week, what can I say! Absolutely fantastic work... Very inspirational. Given me more thought about what engine I want when I do mine in a few years

I have just sat through reading this WHOLE thread for 3 hours pretty much
NO TEA BREAKS :P

i must say, you have really gone above and beyond with this conversion congratulations on it :)

i am too going to start a VTEC conversion soon enough hopefully this next month coming.

some questions for you.

out of everything you have done etc do you wish you would have started with the b20? or was the b16 good enough?

what year of was the engines out of do you know?

do you change ANY of the wires coming from the steering wheel lever's or the ignition barrel?

with the removable from (clubman era) how did you attach the front part of it? and did you find three areas where it was attached was enough?

i got loads of questions heading your way, you know this dont you? :D hehe

fantastic!

although my project thread is nothing like this one! i havnt updated in lets just a while ha!

probably could of guessed it from my signature its going into bruce :)

Well....that was one hell of a journey!!!  Glad to see you went back to the standard round nose.  Dont get me wrong, i love a clubman but there is something about coming full circle to complete it the way you had originally intended.

So whats the next step?  Turbo?.....AWD?  ;)

No worries dude

B16 was good enough, I was still running that 3.4FD with it as I'm a long distance kinda runner than short stuff, but with my gearing the b16 needed more oomph as it could feel empty in some gears, if I ran it with a 3.7FD or even crazily left the original 4.2FD in I reckon I would've kept with it but I wanted better gearing with smaller wheels and the nice motorway revs at 70mph and still have enough pedal power to hit three figures for fun overtaking so thats the reason why I changed as I wanted all three

B16a2 came out of a standard 1993 del sol vti, B18c6 out of a 2001 standard teg type r, B20a out of a 1997 crv which I'm guessing was standard  :whistling:

Kept the standard wires out of the mini steering column, everything is as per mini

Clubman front was attached with the two familiar bolts in the A panel as found on other setups plus two large bolts at the front near the original mini teardrops location, like most front ends though it probably wouldn't hold up in a collision

Took it (clubman) to malvern one year and had it parked up inside the main building with the bonnet up, was chatting to another member on here (miniman retford) a few yards away next to his gorgeous white mini and some guy was poking his head round my bay and looking at the front end looking confused, he then pressed down hard on each corner, I nearly flipped as man-handling anothers car at a show is a no no but was laughing as he looked even more confused when he walked off for whatever reason, yes pal its a secure front end now bog off  ;-)

Your front end will be as secure as you can get it so don't worry

Haha cheers mate

Yeah I saw some pics of it as a clubby and just couldn't get used to it, I too am a clubby fan as my first car was a clubby that I learnt to drive in so have a soft spot for them but this one just needed looking just like when I bought it, don't get me wrong as its been a massive and stressful pain trying to cram it all in but if I had another go I'd just clubby it!

Next step?

Did have plans to try and squeeze a rotrex supercharger with what space is left, I reckon with some time I could do it as I had some plans around it but as I'm now buying a house the mini is on hold for the time being and hibernating somewhere

As and when I get back on it I'll try and fit the second radiator under the wing just for giggles and plumb the air filter more adequately then get the front end finished off then respray the lot, then take it on a holiday - everyone needs a dream...

thanks matey!

i have since started my conversion! :) at last!

heres my thread

i went for the b18c4 in the end :) its got the 4.26 final drive so hopefully i will be ok with that, i am too a cruiser as well though and i dont want to be taking it out as soon as i get it in

ive gathered so far, biggest point are too make sure you havnt got to take the engine out again is,

check the clutch is ok which i dont know if i cant be bothered with to do or not lol

make the bolts on the steering rack counter sunk so they dont hit the box

and make sure the inlet will fit with a good space behind

theres probably something ive missed in that though lol

yea i hate when people lean on my car, just because i am, does mean you can! so annoying!

my front end is metal which i suppose is a plus :P

Time to get back on it

Been away from the mini for the last year due to some personal circumstances changing including moving, mini is now in its new home

new1.jpg

new2.jpg

It's been off the road and I need to get it back on again as someone wants to use it as there wedding car in 6 1/2 weeks, it needs a front end respray but if I'm being honest the whole car could benefit from one but I don't have the funds for that so hopefully I can just get the front end done as it can't look any worse as it does now! They are happy with that

Needs a few niggly bits sorted out for a MOT plus I need to change the windscreen as there is a big ass crack (no pun intended) right in front of my office chair, never done one before so will be interesting

Got an oil leak (its like having an a series again!) from the cam end caps, its a known usual place but made worse if you use Watsons blanking plug for the dizzy

new5.jpg

So got some proper end cap seals

new3.jpg

So will get on with these first and sort the other bits out

new4.jpg

new6.jpg

It still needs its final tune as I'm still running it on 95 but its goes plenty enough so I will just leave that for another time

This will be slow and steady though, got plenty of time  :D

Well this is a pleasant surprise kam, good to see the mini has a clean, large new home and is still around. A lot of vtec's I know of have been sold or stripped for parts.
Am I right to assume the "someone" is yourself?
Are you still down south then?
Look forward to the updates as and when they appear :)

Good to see you getting stuck in again, mate!

Sooooo, if you get MOT soon, it'll be ready for Germini next Summer, right?
