I learnt to drive in a £50 clubman so still got a soft spot for them, but this one did need its original nose back
So was it worth it? I will never answer that...

If you had to write a dictionary description of the term "sleeper" all you would need is a picture of your car!!
Appreciate that mate, but its still not sleeper enough for me as I need an 'ol lady driving it and you know I can't fill them shoes in more ways than one!

IMO, "sleeper" is an overused word nowadays, but yours really is.

Car needs a respray to finish it off as theres one or two or twenty dents that need taking take of but I ain't got the funds for that so I'm gonna run it like this for now, hopefully get a respray done start of next year and then start to take it to some shows
In the meantime I will hopefully get some better footage of some in-car driving...

Anyways, done a short vid, just a tester, will get another one done once the car is completely finished which as we all know will be...
So far though, car is on course to make it to germini next week - I hope!
Enjoy

I'm curious to know what it's like to drive? Not just power (clearly thats a change from the A-series engine) but has it still got the mini-ness character?

Does the extra weight up front affect the handling
I'm not the best person to ask but I'll go out on a limb here and say yes it still retains some mini-ness character like before, its still running a standard mini track and suspension, still got the good 'ol donuts and hi-los and the weight of the engine doesn't really seem to affect it, it does weigh a bit more than an a-series but its an ally block not cast and its certainly not front heavy, yes you carry alot more weight forward (inertia) when braking but I'm running four pots so its swings and roundabouts
With the a-series I ran the original 145/12 tyres and when I first switched over to 165's I could notice difference in chucking it around, it was that noticeable even for me, obviously you had a tiny bit more tramlining on the road and pot hole hits are more annoying with the 165's but on a track hell yeah it was the tyre size to have with a 12" wheel
I've driven both my mates minis with 10" and 13" wheels aswell, when you drive all three you can appreciate why the 10" wheel is the wheel to have on a mini especially on a track, the 13" is more comfortable for short distances but thats it, on a track its not all that - to me anyway
So you can understand why the 12" wheel is the best compromise out of all three, mine feels like a 12" wheeled mini that has upgraded to 165's, just like any mini that has done that you lose a little feel over the 145's on chucking it round but its alot more steady whist cornering, so to me yeah its still got that mini-ness character as it does feel the same as when I went up to 165's with the a-series
I'm hopefully taking this to the nurburgring with TMF in a couple of days so I dare say some of them will jump in and let you know aswell (a passenger perspective) although I'm not really doing many laps as this mini is still work in progress and I would like it to come back home in one piece
