Xmas has come early! new 2.0 engine is here, half of it anyway
As its xmas I unwrapped it
Got a small Fram filter on it and the aero connector is short which will help massively for clearance, you can see the new feed point for the vtec (which will go to the head) I'm gonna take off that oil pressure switch on the take off and put my 3 way union on there so I can mount the oil pressure/temp senders etc
Its got ARP head studs aswell, pistons are 84mm 'teg type-r jobbies (standard bore) ACL race bearings and original crank was checked, sump has been baffled, compression ratio is about 11:8, P2V has all been checked, my next job - get some paint on it
He found a very small mark on the head face and wasn't sure how it happened but thats been sent back to Rob Walkers to sort out, its not a problem for me as I still got my old b16 head here, so I can at least paint the block and chuck it in with my old b16 head and see where I stand for clearance etc and start getting things done my end
While I've been waiting for the engine I bought a new 68mm throttle body from across the pond
Its an Omni power one and comparing it with the standard one this one DOES NOT have an idle adjustment screw (brass screw on the original)
Gonna put my old MAP sensor on this to 'block' up the hole as the DTA don't use it
Or I might get a small plate made up to make it look a bit neater with an o ring rather than having the original plug left unconnected.....
I've also been counting my gear ratios, as you do
Only because I found my original honda final drive and started counting, as you do
I found it was a 4.2, its supposed to be a 4.4, that got me thinking so started counting the gear sets, found 1 to 4 all correct but my 5th was different to whats its supposed to be, it was 0.875 and is meant to be 0.848
I know all the above makes no difference whatsoever as I'm using a custom 3.4FD but was good to have a look and understand a bit more about it
While I was picking up the engine we got talking about clutches and I happened to mention I'm gonna be using a stage 4 paddle competition clutch!
He had a d series turbo sitting there in a civic and he said "thats the same stage 4 CC try it out" OMG! the pedal was smoother than my mini with the 14mm AP! He said CC are not as heavy feel as what people make out, yes they are a little like an on/off switch but alot better than others out there
Gonna get the head back in a few days but that won't stop me putting this block in and setting final engine positioning and going from there
Getting excited about it again which is good this time of year with the colder nights setting in the garage but I don't care
All fun, again
