Next up was the pulley at the bottom of the bracket

Posted Image

It only just has enough clearance

Posted Image

Incase anyone is wondering why the pulley is there, its because it clears the back part of the frame it was designed for, lucky for me it also clears (just!) the back inside corner bracing of the allspeed! :)

Posted Image

So the alternator belt travels as below as it would do on the MTB frame

Posted Image

It looks tight where they meet and it probably is, but its not set in stone yet, so it might clear or it might not, the belt clearance where its sits close will be the same no matter what frame its used on, the only problem is whether the belt clears the corner brace on my allspeed? I can always change to a LARGER pulley to clear the corner bracing on mine but this will make the belt hit in the middle, and changing to a smaller one will keep the belts apart but will send the belt into the corner brace? Simple eh? :D

No biggie though, I was feeling in a good mood today so I decided to come up with a Plan C extension! :P

Plan C extension is the the two holes at the front at the top of the head (for the honda power steering pump)

Posted Image

which are now not in use on mine as before I had the front mounting kit for the alternator there before so I decided I'll make up a plate and weld on a support bar to house another pulley like so (using previous pulley for reference)

Posted Image

It'll be tucked in neatly so it clears the underside of the wing, then the new back up belt will run as so

Posted Image

I reckon it'll work fine :) this at least gives me some breathing space and less stress about the two main problems with tucking it in a roundnose, like I said nothing is set in stone yet but I think'll it work, hopefully tomorrow I'll get the engine out and the front end front holes drilled and secured up

My deadline for taking this to Le Mans in June will probably not happen now :) I don't want to push it again like last year trying to get it done but trying to book in the front end with the new bodyshop and getting a mapping session sorted out its gonna be a nightmare as both will be silly busy by the time I finish whenever that will be? I know it looks like only a few odd things left to to do but its not as easy as that! ;D some things have now come up this end......

I will try to get this completed in 3 months but if it don't happen then it won't happen, but I won't push it like before as I've been there done that and didn't like the outcome back then......

Next job some more project fuel for me - Kams Favourite Chicken :-

Why not ditch the bonnet safety catch and go for a safety chain instead?

All you need is a short length of chain, a clasp and job done. You can mount it where you want then.

Sorry, forgot to add, I'll make up a small plate and weld it on to the bottom part of the alternator bracket to secure it using the original casing holes

Have you tried to carry a fully built up clubman front end into a roundnose? Its a bit tight mate :D

Good thinking Sean, was gonna leave it to last but I'm open to ideas anyway, but that chain idea sounds good to me :-
