Well, so far I've been enjoying the car loads since its been on the road, but I think my over exuberant driving on the road may have caught up with me, don't get me wrong I'm a safe sensible driver when on the road but in this car......no

its nice to spin up every now and then whilst making other cars look silly

but now my clutch seems hard to engage third gear when changing down from a moderate speed, I'm guessing this is because I'm using a nut and bolt instead of the standard roll pin in the gear linkage but found this out alot more when going round castle combe lately, had to take corners in fourth! whats the fun in that???? So with Chris (Gingermonkey) in the car I took a few corners in second instead........where can you buy new tyres from?

All fun!

My gearstick is
very wobbly, its actually more wobbly in gear than in neutral? go figure????

I'm using a nut and bolt in the gear linkage where it hooks up to the gearbox, the roll pin is meant to be more of a nightmare to remove than on a mini so people just use the right size nut and bolt when connecting it back up. Its been getting worse but usable so did the usual thing and just forgot about it
But decided to get the actual spring clip roll pin thats meant to go in there, and got a new plastic collar all from my local honda, also got some new energy suspension gear linkage bushes from Funky Power, I was using the old tired ones which wasn't helping.......

The large round one goes in the steady bar which hooks up to the gearbox

Apart from changing the bushes I also wanted to try and
'spin' the gearstick lever around, what I mean is the standard dc2 integra shifter I bought faces this way with the kink in it....

which is great in an integra but in a mini it does touch the passenger seat slightly when going into second, if you got a passenger you need them to sit straight then! I welded on half of my old mini stick at an angle to give some clearance but still could do with some more, but really could do with this kink being the other way round......
So thought I might aswell try something for nothing whilst I'm here, first off, take it all apart

White plastic collar slides in this gaitor here around the 'ball'

Spun the gearstick around 180 degrees, its only held by the bottom bolt, make sure you got dash clearance, I'm using standard dash so no issues here (I think?)

but if you got an aftermarket dash that sticks out something like a curly one then it might catch, will update on mine when its all back in

Found a possible problem??? Looking from the back the actual stick is off center, can't see in the picture but its over to one side....

which means now I've spun it the other way it may be offline to where it goes into the gearbox, but wont know by how much until its all back together, if it can't then it'll go back in the normal way, I've seen some short shifter sticks that are straight so no biggie anyway....that can wait though......
I decided to pull the clutch out and inspect to make sure all is fine, now, in a civic or crx del sol you can split and drop the transmission in-car but with the allspeed frame its just not possible, I wanted to do it all in-car to save time and hassle but took out as much as I could from around and on the gearbox

although you can
lift the gearbox yourself there just aint the room to pull it from the engine and swing it out, the engine only has one mount but the gearbox has a side and rear mount so I made sure the engine was supported, so after all that and seeing as most of the ancillaries are already removed.....

it looks like the whole lot needs to come out but might aswell anyway now as its mostly out!
I was hoping to replace the clutch in-car and take a little drive to Germany the day after tomorrow as I got a long weekend off, there goes that idea now
But as usual, its all fun, right? my spirits are high, god knows why?
