Anyone would think it's your Birthday or something!

Not long before it's all up & running now. Glad you sorted the tyre monkeys out in the end!

Quick update - I wanted to use my original standard mini dials but obviously mini cable and honda VSS dont mix, but when I first pulled the VSS apart I saw it had a 'square' section underneath - just like the end of the mini cable, I dont know how people get around this so I decided to venture on my own to try and get it to work! >_<

VSS apart, you can see the square section underneath

Posted Image

I cut off a very small bit of the end of the mini cable

Posted Image

It needed to attach to this center runner which sits inside the VSS, the other end of the runner houses the square pin above which sits in the top of the gearbox which it runs off

Posted Image

Managed to weld the cable to the runner

Posted Image

Front wheels jacked up and in second gear...

Posted Image

It works :)

I'm guessing after 110mph (on a track of course) it'll probably snap but at least it works for now - will see how long it holds up for, I can always unplug it from the back of the dash before a trackday anyway.....

:)

Got a MOT booked now for the day after tomorrow, so been getting one or two things done

Found out from over on 16v that the bonnet hinges have different holes to adjust it which I didn't know....

Posted Image

so will look into this as I still need to sort out the gap at the rear of the bonnet when its down, its not too bad but then it aint been out in the rain yet!

Got some tubing through to clean up the wires in the engine bay and also a ciggie lighter for my sat nav, no more leaving a spare car battery in the passenger footwell now for when I want to use it - not that I ever did :- also got my clock to install somewhere

Posted Image

I didn't want the ciggie lighter on show on the dash so made up a backing plate....

Posted Image

and mounted it to one side behind the glovebox lid and chucked the clock on

Posted Image

I've never had a inner section to the glovebox since I bought the dash and its always come in handy getting to bits and bob behind there, now I've got my relays for the ecu, fuel pump etc and various other fuses behind the dash it'll come in handy once again :D

I read over on 16v some time ago that using an integra type r gear linkage may leave the gearknob far too close to the passenger seat when in second gear, I haven't had both my seats in yet and as I was starting on the interior I found this aswell. Its not too bad but could get annoying - especially if someones in the pass seat

Also I can't use my original mini gearknob as the tyre r thread is bigger and didnt fancy putting a honda one in there as everything else on the interior looks mini

So.... :- I decided to have a little play with the angle grinder and chop off a large section from the top of the original mini linkage

Posted Image

And weld it up to the honda one at an angle

Posted Image

Posted Image

Yes its a bit long  but its closer now to the steering wheel!! And now it aint a short shift! :teehee:

In neutral

Posted Image

In second

Posted Image

We'll see how long my welds last after some aggressive gear changes aswell :) also I need to find something to 'bridge' the gap between the mini gaitor at the bottom and the knob......I wont tell you whats there at the moment :ermm:

Took it for a little spin round the block - Ding Ding front end round two!

Posted Image

But hit a snag early tonight, wheel stud snapped off :P

Posted Image

These are secondhand hubs I bought as I couldn't find mine at the time but I noticed earlier after coming back from a quick spin round the block one of the studs didnt look like it was sitting flush and straight???? So took wheel off and started to tighten nut to level it and snap! :P Was gonna go minispares tomorrow and get some new hubs and studs but decided to try one last time and find my old original hubs, so after a few hours! I found them

Posted Image

The back of my studs have a "V" on them whereas the ones I bought secondhand dont?

Posted Image

Hopefully the "V" on them mean Very strong :-

Will crack on with it tomorrow now after work as theres a few things left to do for the MOT, I'm not expecting it to pass but I need to know where I stand....

Great work. I may have missed it earlier, but why did you have your yokohama tyres fitted to steel wheels? What was wrong with your alloys?

Yeah I didn't quite explain that at the time, theres nothing wrong with my old alloys expect they are 12x6 and with standard black plastic arches the tread sticks out a bit, it never looked right but I put up with it and didnt want aftermarket arches either. When I first installed my minispares 4 pot brakes I had my old steely spare lying around so for a laugh I put it on (not expecting it to fit over 4 pot calipers) and it did! So then I thought I'll keep the steels on there to complete the standard-ish look :P

The tyres were not legal on the steelies and the alloy yokos aint done alot of miles so rather than buy new hoops for the steelies I used the ones from the alloys, I knew I wouldn't be putting these 12x6 on. I've still got another set of 12x6 in silver also with A539's with only about 800 miles on them so if these steelies are not upto the job then I'll have no choice but to put my other 12x6 on.......

Or I might get a set of 12x5 deepdish so I can retain my arches (my first alloys were 12x5) and then swap the tyres from the silver ones to the new 12x5's

Its all straightforward and simple but apologies as I can't explain it quicker on a keyboard!

Took it for its MOT today and........it passed! :dontgetit: Tester mentioned a couple of things to sort out, no biggie, he was more concerned about using original steel wheels with this engine! :) Its already insured and got my tax earlier so all good to go

Gonna pop up to Elite in essex sometime to get the suspension sorted out and I need to book it in with Track n road again for them to finish off the map, after the cv boot gaitor popped off last time I was there they capped the revs to 5000rpm so vtec wont engage, hopefully I can get a power run done and see what its putting out.....

I was told at the time when buying my Watsons 3.4 final drive it 'may' whine, more so on deceleration, it does, comes on pretty strong in 3rd gear, up until then its sounds a bit straight-cut-ish??? When decelerating you can see peoples heads turning in the street! ;)

Got a 'ring trip in setember with TMF lot, so need to get this car properly sorted out now.....

Getting there

Cheers mate, until it gets mapped I can only get some vids of it without the vtec as it only goes upto 5000rpm, not really exciting.....well :)

I've got some super duper secretly small video cameras come through recently so I might mount front and rear and take it for a little spin to see what the footage comes out like, and maybe show it here...
