10x5.5/6 banded steels :w00t:

What do you mean by 10x 5.5/6? are the front wheels smaller than the rear wheels?
or don't you know the exact sizes?
I'm was wondering because I'm going to band my steelies as well, but I am still hesitating about the width.
I prefer to do 6 but don't know for sure if they don't stick too far out of my "group 2 narrow" arches.
Here in the Netherlands, we are allowed to let them stick 3cm out of the arches.

Regards,

Lars

That would be my car...

I bought them banded and refurbished them, as they had come of a grasstracker.

They all come up slightly different but they have had roughly a 2.5 inch band. Can you not just work it out by putting your standard steel on the car and working out what size band you need? Would be a lot easier then you could get whatever you desire, flush/poke etc.

I have some 10x6 wellers to fit over my 8.4 set up. Will they just bolt straight on, as I was under the impressioni would have to tale a file to the top of my calipers???

Thanks.

Hi. I've tried this and it doesnt really work. Well, it does, but we had to take an unacceptable amount of material off the calipers, so much so it was a safety concern. We converted the car in question to a 7.5 inch set up soon after. I've heard of people doing it and having no problems, but its always seemed like a bodge to me.

Thanks, was a little bit concerned myself, and had intended to go for 7.5 set up. Think I'll save up and do it properly.

Cheers.

you can also do it by whacking a inch spacer on with extended studs, i had it on mine worked just fine, not the best for handling though, so i converted to 7.5" brakes aswell now its a beast!

i remember chatting to you about them on here yeti glad to see you finally bit the bullet too. carl does a great job, dont forget to buy your inner tubes. managed to find 4 for £18 on ebay good deal. plus you have the benefit of replacing your own tyres as and when needed.
