Does anyone know what year minis changed from 7.5 to 8.4 brakes?

I'm pretty sure the 8.4's were standard from 1984

7.5 disks only where on cooper s models up to the end of the mk3 cooper s and where fitted to early 1275 GTs till approx 1974. 1275 GTs then went over to 8.4 disks and all other minis till approx 1984 came with drum brakes all round and then where fitted with 8.4 disks there after. Hope this helps. And yes unless already done if you want disks you will need a conversion kit. This what i am doing to my 1980 clubman.

Foxy, no, they would not be standard. I would have a guess that an owner at some stage has uprated the brakes to discs, the 8.4's being the cheapest way of doing so. Especially seeming as though in your signature your mini has 12" wheels. I'm guessing though, so to be honest you would be better taking a wheel off and measuring a disc. :)

10x5.5/6 banded steels :(

What do you mean by 10x 5.5/6? are the front wheels smaller than the rear wheels?
or don't you know the exact sizes?
I'm was wondering because I'm going to band my steelies as well, but I am still hesitating about the width.
I prefer to do 6 but don't know for sure if they don't stick too far out of my "group 2 narrow" arches.
Here in the Netherlands, we are allowed to let them stick 3cm out of the arches.

Regards,

Lars

Returned to 10" wheels after 15 years on 13" wheels..........my new genuine Minilite Mk 11 6x10 alloys with deeper dish ET-15 offset and fitted with Japanese Dunlop R7 Road/Race 165/70x10 tyres with the classic 1960's Dunlop CR65 tread pattern. :)

Drives and handles much better on the 10" wheels, (13" Superlites with 175/50x13 Pirelli P7F tyres were previously fitted.)

Nope but there are some that fit over :w00t:

You can fit 10x6 wellers or 10x5 wellers with a inch spacer to clear the discs, i had that setup on mine and it was fine, but i recently converted to 7.5" brake setup!
