Also I'm sure the extra width (10x7) has had a negative on the handling.

Not required on most wheels. I fitted them on my mk1 with original riveted steel wheels as there is no rim to stop the tyre sliding off if punctured.

We got some suspension sorting to do son.
Have you adjusted your suspension yet? Would love to se how she sits if you lowered it.

Not too much actually, the shop I took it too for alignment felt much lower and I'd have some handling issues so they only adjusted it enough to make sure it was sitting level. They do a lot for the local racing community so I went with their advice... for now.
Beside, I live in a fairly rural location so a little suspension travel is helpful with the roads around here.
