Bad news is..
...malone can't help me with paddle shift controls as it simply won't fit on the end of the mini steering column. So instead I made up a bracket for the button control, which I think will be just as good and a lot less hasle.

Sorry slip of the tongue. I didn't actully make the bracket. Just the template made of cardboard.
I need to make the bracket out of sheet steel and then paint it black.
I think it will simply replace the plate on the end of the steering column, that is held in by four bolts.
If not it can go on top of it and I'll get longer bolts.
Sorted.

No or I'd have let you know mate.
They're are £60 (plusp&p) from acumen themselves.
I'm paying £45 for mine, so haven't exactly got the deal of the century, but was gonna get one anyway.

Plus you can get "Plug & Play" loom adapters for loads of popular bikes. £30
I'm gonna get one, because I hate cutting wires around if it can be avoided.

Plus I'm doing my cutting with a 4.5" grinder. Not ideal but it's what I've got.
Can't wait to get stuck in. Thought I'd be a bit scared of doing it, but I'm really looking forward to it.

thort that with u guys doin bike engined projects u may be interested in my brothers little project.
he is /was building an R1 engined go-kart!!!!!
its a 250cc national chassis, the engine mounts are sorted, the engine sits by the side of the driver/pilot!
sidecar front exit exhaust system! (handmade, cost almost a grand to have made!)
power shifter (full bore flat out keep it pinned gear changes at touch of button)
and diddy little 8" wide rear tyres.
i think he has got it for sale for reasonable money if anyone is interested, may sell engine seperate, but i doubt it.
what ya think, should be quick once done, if ever done.

I know nothing about Go-karts and I know it sounds like blasphemy but I'd have assumed that engine was too big for a Go Kart.
But If it drives and you can get traction it will be awesome.

A 'Big-up' to Acumen-Electronics Distributer, Motor House (01256704909). They are posting me a free copy of the instructions to hard wire the gear indicator.
Nice Lady on the phone too.

Well, if the info I've posted on my little project has helped you decide either way, then I'm glad.
But it really isn't too complicated and I'm happy to answer any questions.
Don't forget, this my first proper project and I have really enjoyed it so far.
