Yes, but my mini minus is being a nightmare at the moment, so the plan is to get it finished when the weather gets better.

I'm quite interested in this project, as well as F1 Mini's.

I have been planning a similar project for about 1 year now, and am currently looking for a donor Mini. Over here in Canada they are not that easy to come by.

Do you think that the R1 conversion, or possibly a home built R1 or Hayabusa conversion would fit under a roadster kit like the one from Rally Sport Replicas?
Rally Sport Replicas

I just recently found this site, and will be following the bike engine builds closely.
Hopefully soon, info on my build will be here too.

Yes but,
They will do you a front engine, rear wheel drive R1 conversion. That wouldn't affect the looks of the roadster at all.

Check out the new Z Cars Web Sight....... Turn up your speakers as there's a clip you should remember......

Also take a look at the old Ultima Sports...

I wonder if how the 0-60 and 0-100 times in the bike ultima compare to the standard one.

I have not seen Zcars new website.
Been a bit since I was there.

That is interesting.
I had heard about the Ultima, that thing sounds nuts.

How does Motec control "the power at each wheel"?
F1 you had discussed traction control on your Mini project, but how would it really work? Limiting motor power if wheel spin occurs? It can't actually adjust which wheels see the power can it?

(I can see now I am going to spend a lot of time talking about cars with you guys. You might be a bad influence.)

I post all progress as I go. It's been great going so far, especially as It's my first attempt at anything like this.
DO NOT FEAR, PROGRESS WILL CONTINUE WHEN THE WEATHER GETS BETTER AND THE DAYS GET LONGER.

1.So what kind of budget did you set ?
2.Are you over or under it?
3.How much do you think one can be built for?
4.How long have you been building for?

Im just gathering some info about one first before i jump in

Cheers Drew

Don't mind at all.
1. 10grand (but have spent out on full race kit, new wheels, dash, bucket seats, harnesses, power shifter and other bits and bobs)
2. On the button, so far.
3. I reckon 8 grand if you buy a £50 mini and sort all the rust yourself and have the basic kit from z cars and source your own rad and fuel tank, make your own brace bar and do without silicone hoses, bucket seats etc. Buy the halfords 150 piece socket set for £150. It's great. You will also need an angle grinder and PPE.
4. This is my first ever project. I have done everything for the first time on this car.

Mine came with rear cage assembled, which includes all sprockets, drive shafts rear disc brake hubs, reverse, rear coilovers. You need to assemble the front of roll cage, radiator and all silicone hoses, front brace bar, alloy fuel tank and ancillaries, front coilover and conversion brackets. Plus new remote rod gear change.

heya, Great Build!
Does the fuel tank and hoses come with the package or are they extras? and if you get the engine thru z-cars does it come ready fitted?
Cheers.

fuel tank hoses is part of kit, but I think you have to pay extra for silicone ones.

Z-cars will deliver the cage with engine in situ, but you'll pay loads extra for the engine.
