Ali, if Smurfy's not on the road this weekend (lets hope he is!!) I'll probably be going Sat or Sun if you fancy a lift in the old coop!

Best of luck mate! Have you provisionaly booked an MOT??

To use a flywheel puller you'd need to arrange some way of attatching the bolts or puller body behind the hub. The three legged bearing pullers are made to do this job, and some are hydraulic and damn powerful. They pull against three hooks which you would attatch to the hub rim and put a strap around to keep them in place like a coil compressor. Then they press the shaft out like it's only just been out on yesterday, no trouble.

They may use the complete CV on the MGF because of the way the bearing is arranged in the hub, and because it's a steering axle. A mass on the rear of the bearing spinning with the wheel will reduce the bearing wear caused by gyroscopic procession when steering which would be experienced with a large mass on one side only. Especially if the centre of that mass is some distance from the bearing as in a road wheel.

Could just be Rover tightfistedness though!

Cheers Ian.
But I'm gonna go up on Friday and do the whole weekend, whatever car I'm in. Give me a ring when you get there. I'm gonna set up camp in the SMOC bit.

Sorry to everyone expecting to see the blue beast, but there is no way that Smurfy will be road worthy by Friday. I still haven't recieved the second caliper from Z-cars and my brake lines have not turned up either.

That said, I am not too fussed because I was rushing jobs to get the car ready and now At least I can do jobs in the proper order and not sling it all together only to have to take it apart again to finish properly.

...and to every one at SMOC. look for a purple and green tent with 6th Whitfield scout symbols on it ( I nicked it when I was 11! ). Tee Hee

ah thats sad to hear, ah well. I should be in the smoc bit, meet you there.

if not we could meet on the way

im meeting with one of the ashford minis on the outskirts of ashford and then meeting with the rest of the club at sainsburys. I have to be at the housing estate where you turn right and the first set of traffic lights then left on the first mini roundabout (coming from faversham) and park up.

Got my arse in gear today after messing with the mini moto for a couple of days.
I have made up and shaped all the remaining repair panels for the floor.

First repair panel is done (one of Four required).
It was bloody hard work as working under the car with not alot of space and was very hot.
Took me half a day to do this.

But hatchet did come round and distract me with talk of Southern Mini Days tomorrow.

I'm gonna buy a rear valance and modify it slightly in order to de-bumper the rear.
Plus an air horn!
