The plate will have 10mm foam pads behind it to space it away from the holes. The plate light will be replaced by led bolts that I am modding so that they shine onto the plate.

Came back with an 'R' and an escort 16v badge and made this to go in bottom right hand corner of mesh grill.

by the way mate, if for any reason you dont finish the car on time, there is a space in my car if you need it for the smoc event.

Ordered some nice stainless steel allan key head bolts to replace the horrible rusty phillips ones.

Well everybody I've finally got my welder out!

First I prepped all the spots that were gonna get a repair panel. This involved ginding away all the rust to find where the good metal was. Then spraying the bare metal with weld thru primer.

These pics are the holes in my bulkhead that were letting in copious amounts of water.

I then cut repair panels out of the remains of my boot floor and rear bench.
I also used the grinder to remove all paint from panels and from area's where weld is to take place.

This insures a good bond.

...et voila, here is the result of my first attemp with a welder.

I then used grinder to get rid of all ruff edges and applied a generous layer of zinc primer.

All these repairs will also be treated with seam sealer.
