After I recieved some very swift advice on technical page, I went and fetched a hammer and my boss came off.

So I just could'nt wait to get the bracket finished and test fitted before painting.

After a lot of bending bracket to shape, and eventually figuring out I could bend the indicator stalk too.....
....It fits pukka!

It looks so neat behind the wheel.
I'm really impressed with it.

Don't be fooled by the photo. There is alot of space between the wheel and the bracket.
Got to take it off and paint it now, gonna paint the steering wheel too.

Bit annoyed with myself as I haven't done any of the welding jobs I promised myself I'd do. Especially as my girlfriend is away so I have no distractions.

However I did do some little jobs and they count as progress.

First I took a normal kitchen scourer (you now the green pads for washing up) and scoured the surface of bracket, steering wheel and hub/boss. then applied two coats of zinc primer.

Everything is now gonna get sanded with 800 grit wet/dry then two coats of body colour paint with sanding after each coat and same again with two coats of lacquer. Should look pretty cool.

Here is a boring picture of the hub for the sake of it

Also tried fibreglassing for the first time today and it went really well I think.

I will gradually build this side up with filler till it is flush.

Does anyone know what works as a thinner for epoxy resin because I put the brush in white spirit and it is now solid.

I use cheap throw away brushes, easyer and less time consuming.. But Acitone is the recomended Thinners. I also have used ordinary thinners but it's not good if you get any mixed in with the resins when you are laying up your next time after cleaning the brush.

In order to let some more of those hot engine fumes out I drilled two holes in the boot.

This pic also shows the filled in holes where the rear plate light was.
