haahaha!!! grinding disks. I've used god knows how many of em. on my 3" air cut off they go like butter...i'd say i've used about 25-30 of em...as for my electric grinder i've probally gone through about 5 or 6 flap disks, 10 or 11 grinding disks and maybe 20 cut wheels. only guesses bu this easily totals about $100 in disks...good thing i get em free. :fear: you didn't hear that though. :fear:

But yeah Alburgar that mini minus shell looks sweet...I'm so jealous, probally like all other mini owners....you've got one big advantage there...no hidden rust. :D

Today I took the Mk4 subframe to a blast cleaners. I was pleasantly surprised as my local one about 5 minutes away, but they are a heavy plant machine firm and don't do powder coating.
Not to bothered though because they are putting a primer on it as you'd find on plant machinery like a JCB, so it must be pretty heavy-duty. I will then paint it black.

This will do me fine, because I will be using the minus shell and mk1 subframe next year anyway.

When I get it back I'll post pic's and price.

It's a replica of the zeemax bonnet.
You can buy em cheap from Autofashion but don't expect as good a fit as the real thing.

Actually which one do you mean?
The one on smurfy is zeemax replica.
The one in the picture of my minus (white bonnet on light blue car) is custom made. It is definately the one I will be using.

Have been playing cars in the sun today Mainly on the cut down doors for the minus but have also made progress on smurfy.

Picked up the sand blast and primered front subframe.
Also bought a dual purpose welder off a mate the other day, so when my solar mask and gauntlets turn up I'm gonna start practicing on the boot floor I chopped out. Then gonna patch up my sills and floor.
And when i've got a few hours practice under my belt I'm gonna seam weld my front subframe and then paint it.

I also tidied up the remains of the parcel shelf. Looks like last owner chopped it out with a spoon in-order to put his 6x9 shelf in.

looks a bit neater here but not too important as the top section of the new bulk head will bolt on top of it.

oh and by the way, the subframe blast and primer only cost £30. Quite good I thought.

Also spent alot of time with a bottle of degreaser scrubbing my engine bay ready for some slap-on black paint.
Looks better already but I'll save pics for when paint is on.

Hit some more pipe removal probs tho when trying to take out brake and clutch servo's.
How do you get those pesky buggers off????????????

I really am stuck with those b****rd pipe unions. Please see my technical post if you have any tips/advice on getting them off.

Right all sorted. Engine bay is now ready for a paint and a bit of underseal (with added waxoil).
Tomorrow should be welding day tho. Can't wait to get started.

Today tho I have mostly been making the bracket for my power shifter buttons.
It needs a few more holes driled in it then will be painted up body colour.

However, I went to trial fit it but I can't figure out how to remove the boss that the steering wheel attaches to, so once again please see me latest technical query.

Anyway here is a pic of the bracket so far.
