Apart from losing out on the minus shell, I'm very happy at the moment because I'm coming to the end of the removing parts jobs.
Which means that I can start putting the car together as soon as the bits or powder coated. Whoopee!

Tomorrow I'm gonna buy another pair of axle stands, Jack the back up, and cut the floor out. Mon/tuesday gonna ring some local shot blast/ powder coater.
That'll tide me over!

Hi, newcomer to this,
just sitting by enjoying you two's bike engined projects, wish I had the money, tools, expertise, time etc.
I was wondering if yourself and F1 had insurance quotes for your cars. I'm sorry but someones got to ask. I read that the guy who has (or had) the twin engined R1 monster had an equally "monster" insurance rate of just under £3000...I think it was £2900!
Hope you chaps are cheaper than that!
Just a thought too, it's a pity the both of you didn't film with a vid' your working on the various stages of your projects, then you could've made a DVD and flogged it. I know there's a lot of interest out there in the Mini world and not just the UK. Might've given you back some of your cash.

Cheers, Charlie

Hi charlie,
I am 21. I had a quote from adrian flux using two years no claims with the hyabusa (non turbo'd). They were not interested in exactly what the conversion was, all they asked was what was the name of the conversion and what was the engine size. I said 1300 they said "£450 fully comp" which is less than half of what I pay on a 1400i clio.
So hopefully a 998cc will cost peanuts.

That is a very good qoute, maybe you should get it in writing before they change their minds, hee hee. My 1967 Ford Mustang costs me just over £300 so yours would sound about right. I dont want to cast any apersions about the company you mentioned but I did read on another forum (yikes) of another chaps problems in making a claim with this company. On the one hand it sounds good that they're not really interested in the ins and outs of your car but it also could be a bit of a worry should something unfortunate happen and they turn round and say, "Wait a minute, you never told us,
The rear floor was gone!
It was a motorbike engine!
It was mounted in the back!
Maybe something to think about, always look for the worst case scenario, remember these people aren't going to give you your money back readily. These gits will try anything to get out of it.
Good luck, sorry to cast doom and gloom.

Regards, Charlie

I agree that is a slight concern. I did tell them on the phone exactly what the conversion was. They didn't care then, But I'll make sure they write it all down on my policy documents when I do it for real. Just incase they try to worm their way out if something un-fortunate happens.

I've just been talking to the guy who got the minus shell. Bumped into him on another forum.
It sounds like the minus has gone to a good home. He's got titanium subframe for it already. So at least it's not gonna sit in someone's garage for another 15 years.

When was that, I only went to see it last week. Could have made him an offer, but it wasn't registered correctly on a Minus V5. So what were doing would have ment a SVA, and that ment I wasn't interested.

It went a couple of days ago.
What does the minus V5 need to have on it then, because I may have found another.

I've looked into it on DVLA website and if I use Smurfy's engine suspension etc, etc then I can swap the bodies over and keep the smf's plate. No need for SVA. Wouldn't the same apply with yours?
