I'm selling my Mini 25 after all and need a price...

will return to minis eventually but need something a bit more modern and quicker! not a motorway car and ive just moved to the midlands from the south!

Anyways. Ive had it since 2005 and it had 2 previous owners. the old lady I bought it off just used it to go shopping in once a week! i think it had 34000 miles on the clock when i bought it. Its now at 49000.

Interior and engine are original, Ive added chrome bumpers, wheel arches, wing mirrors and some hella spotlamps (not wired in, they just look nice!)

I didnt drive it whilst I was at uni, and when I finished my course this summer I had it looked over by a mechanic and (forgive me if this doesnt make sense! copying it from his description of the problems!) it had oil change, points adjusted, tappets set, suspension all greased up, new bottom hose, new bypass hose, new front tyres, new passenger side track rod end, wiring done for cd head unit.

car has been on the road since and hasnt let me down, it's taken me from basingstoke to nottingham and back several times and to and from work.

I will say it is pinking a bit when in low gears and low revs, but i guess the timing just needs adjusting and its being run on unleaded with additives. I think it also needs a new fuse box (around £20) as the fuse which is on the dashlight and rear lights circuit is having intermittent problems (noticed it maybe once this month, where I just had to open bonnet and fiddle with the connection til it worked)

There is however a bit of a problem right now though! last saturday I drove to work no problem, and when I tried to drive it at lunch time, the clutch seemed to have a problem. now i haven had it looked at yet so ill just describe it. basically the bite point was almost immediately off the floor of the car and unless I was revving hard it wanted to stall. the gear stick became incredibly stiff to change into gear and eventually, half way home, it became so difficult to get it into 1st to move away that I was pulling away in 3rd or even 4th on a hill. the car judders when it goes into gear and seems to try and move even when i dont have my foot on the gas, i.e. when I was braking in traffic I had to press it hard as I could feel the car still trying to move.

Now I told myself that if I had a major problem with minims I'd sell him on because Im going travelling soon and need the money and as I said before ive now moved to nottingham so need a car thatll cope better with motorways.

If anyone can offer me advice about my problem, or if theres a mechanic in the nottingham area willing to diagnose it and fix it so that I can then sell it.

tax runs out in december, mot runs out in august.

Thanks, Kirsty

should probably add that the bodys in pretty good condition, some tiny dents and scratches as expected on a 25 yr old car but otherwise minimal rust.

Is it still difficult to get into gear with the engine turned off?

If it isn't then it may just be a clutch issue which is fairly easy to sort.

I agree with Dave. You'll find it a lot easier to sell - and get a decent price - if you get it towed to a garage and sort the clutch.

heres some more photos. note that there is only surface rust. the rust shown on the edge of the windscreen is the worst bit on the car! the marks on the ceiling and on the floor are from when i wasnt driving the car for a while when at uni and it got damp inside (now gone completely) and the floor is immaculate.
And I have service history and the piece of czrpet missing from the drivers side is in the boot!
