Here is the reply from the heritage people:

Further to your enquiry, the build date recorded for Mini, chassis number XA2S1-N/102xxxx-A is the 4th July 1973.

Edit: It just occurred to me that this is Independence day. Hmm... fireworks paint job anyone? :-

Spent some time this evening soldering up the rear lights and doing a Wipac halogen conversion on the front lights.
All solid and ready to go. >_<

The bullet connectors are all still present in the loom - I had previously thought that they had cut them off, but some proper poking about revealed that they had cut the lights close to the lamp ends, but left the bullet connectors in place?! Duh!?!

(car was sat near a farm for 3 years!) so gonna break it for parts.... best thing really, might pass the shell on though, as its pretty descent! good luck with your mini!

Oh no dude!
I think the 'all brakes are shot' might apply to mine too >_<
But I'm getting stuck in all the same.

Shame about yours. I guess you gamble at £100 really.
Still, you'll make your money back I expect - especially as you can demo the engine as a runner.

Here is a picture from earlier.
As you can tell, it was getting dark and raining a lot.

Coming along nicely.
Good to get the v5..... its a good feeling.

The weather has been naff today.
I went out to fix my compressor today (got a new regulator at last!) and it was yuck outside!

Good to see you got your headlights working. Mine broke last night and I had to make a 8 mile trip home holding the flash down so I could see where I was going. :)

Doh. Not great!
Not just average sealed beam 'headlights' in Em's case but a Wipac Halogen set.

I do have a small problem.
The full beam is stuck on (blue light in dash) but I get no light at all now.

I have cleaned all the contacts on the headlight switch.
If you flash full beam, you get a flash.

Hmm.
It's a stalk multi-way switch problem I should think.
