Hi all, i'm in the process of playing with my clubman and now i look at the grill and think what the hell......

Well....there is the Wood and Pickett option. IF you can find a Vauxhall Victor grille to cut down:
Or.....you could remove all the black paint/anodizing (don't know what it is) and polish it up. A nice set of fog lamps will go a long way to making it look good too:

mark one golf is anice variant - I'm cnc milling one from billet as a custom jobby.
Mark 1 Golf with built-in fogs? That would look good.
What about something based around the Mk. 1 Capri quads? That could look cool.
You're definitely going to need some skills (and imagination) to do something custom.

Mk2 golf grill fits if you cut the light surrounds off, shorten-it, then put it back together.

Wasn't carbon weezel talking about doing a carbonfibre stock one? None the less, the shape of the stock grille would seem like it would be easy to build something since it's fairly flat and simple.
