My bonnet is a subaru type bonnet, there are 4 holes in the top of the bonnet which have a mesh cover - they will let water run all over the engine, electrics etc...
I assume this will cause damage? how can I stop the water going in?
Also... my front grille is a wavey type grills that will also let water go all over the front of the engine when I am driving in the rain. how can I stop this to?but without stopping air flow to the engine...
thanks

get a proper grille and bonnet...?
the grille should be ok, maybe get one of the splash guard shield things. Not too sure on the bonnet.

Depends on where the holes are, but with the bonnet you could fit an ERA mini style vent over them. That way they'd be covered but still open to allow air flow.
The vents like this:

It'll get dirty but water won't cause damage unless it gets right into you electrics. Think about a motorbike engine, that's got zero protection! A splash guard/rubber glove over your dizy should keep the worst out.
Can we have a pic of your bonnet?

But the fuse box sounds like it might be right under holes. Also he might end up with aload of water just sat on the bulkhead, round the master cylinders...

Fit a proper bonnet and rubber seal around the engine bay.
I have a grille which is actually a grating with no slats, then i added an alloy plate to cover the dizzy. Absolutely no issues in the pouring rain and running over massive splashes at high speeds.

Thanks all. I have contacted the previous owner who is sending me over the original bonnet over to me
I will alter the original to how I want it rather than using the one that is on now - I will take pictures tomorrow so you can see what I mean.
Thanks again
