With the slave cylinder disconnected - I can take up the slack in the clutch arm lever by pulling it forwards. Then if I use something for leverage I can move it further round which in turn moves the pressure plate out wards to disengage the clutch.
But with the slave cylinder back on its not man enough to move the clutch arm lever once the slack has been taken up. I've bled it twice and there is no air in the system yet the pedal is soft and I can push it all the way down without the pushrod from the slave cylinder moving.
So where's the fluid going (it's not leaking) if it's not forcing the pushrod forwards and why is it not strong enough to operate the lever arm.

all sorted! i think i was just getting tired last night.
spent ten minutes this morning and i got a nice firm pedal which i tested out by actually driving the car forwards for the first time - even if it was only a couple of feet in the garage.
couple of small items i need before testing it up and down the road. will pick these up tomorrow at beaulieu.

I've had it out and driven it round a few roads close to home.
List for next week includes - sort the exhaust blow, yet another re-bleed on the brakes due to leaking hose, fit speedo healer and sort the indicators which have stopped working again.
But the list is short so I'm hopeful. Plus the girlfriend wants to see it so she's coming down for the week too.
She doesn't know it yet but she'll be putting her hands to good use...(on the mini of course)

Mate this is excellent news. So how is it, fast enough? How does it drive? I've forgotten the test drive I had with Darren and Phil! So glad you're nearly there with it all, all the best for the MOT.

It's definitely a car that will be at its best when driven quickly

Wasn't able to drive the mini up onto the ramps as I was getting a load of wheelspin so we managed to push it up enough of the way to get the job done.
Got the Speedo healer installed too.
Two things crossed off the list
