Bodywork Ridiculous Quote

I think i have come to the right place to get some advise about the right cost to pay for a body work
I have a Jreg (91) mini cooper that has a bit of rust on the A panel on the sides and the bit on the wings. I took it to a professional mini specialist in London to get a quote for the same. He said that he would need to replace the panels because treating them would not be a solution them on a long term. The cost he quoted for painting and the panels are fall below £300. But he wants a ridiculous 22 hours of labour to do this. This workd upto £330. I know that the labour bit is quite costly but did not expect 22 hours.....
the total estimate is 1145. this is almost half the cost of the vehicle....
Could you please help me with contacts for a few more mini specialists in around Brentwood/Essex? I thought it would be better if i take it to a couple of them to get a quote from all before i shell out so much money
I love my car so much that i have decided to take it back with me to India.....I want to get all the work done here before i take to India as Minis are not a familiar car for the people there and i would not like them to practice doing minis on mine!!!!!!
it would be great if someone could help me with this
Thanks and Regards

The rest will depend on his hourly rate.

Bear in mind, he has to remove the doors, repair the A post, replace the A panels, refit the doors to check gaps etc, remove doors agin, paint and ressemble.
Its not a quick job to get it right.

if you want it done its best paying for it to be done properly, and to do bodywork to a good standard takes time
yes its half the value of your car, but you have to remeber the majoirty of the money we spend on our minis we never get back in resale value, it's mainly just for your own satisfaction and enjoyment

I think if the whole front of the car was new panels for that price, and the whole car painted - seems about right.
Hi
its just for the side panel and the A wing. the whole car does not need repainting......... I was not sure of the price because it was just 2 panels..............

How much were you expecting?
I was told by a colleague that he got a lot of his bodywork + whole body painted for £1200. So i was expecting something like 500-700 ish because its only half of the front end that needs to be done on my car......

Then theres the painting and blending the repairs into the existing bodywork, 22hrs is pretty much bang on.

Reminds me of a phrase I heard years ago .... pay peanuts get ....................
