differences from MK1 to MK2 body:

just the rear lights ? or rear window and rear quater windows as well ?

And cut outs in the front valvance for the better brakes cooling.

Mk1 had the smaller rear window,

different front grille,

rear lights,

the rear quarter windows had the piano hinges on them but the Mk2 had them too,

The switch panel is slightly different, its more skinny and lengthy if that makes sense? Difference in shape. The cooper had the Grey cumulus switch panel and the normal ones like a creamy/white one I believe

The very early mk1 binnacle attached to the car via the a front speedo housing which you can tell by 4 screws in a square around the speedo and hooked to the body as well where as the later ones and Mk2 onwards the binnacle screwed straight to the body

Mk1s had the floor starts and dip switches on floors (not all I dont think) but they never had them on the Mk2

The front valance brake cooling cut-outs first appeared around July 1964 on the Mk1 bodyshell.

Anyone know if there is any difference between mk3 and mk5 minis for the following parts:

Inner sills
Rear wingss
Scuttle tray
door skins

Think I've just made a booboo and ordered the wrong panels I thought mine was a mk3 but turns out its a mk5 lol!

Another resurrection of this thread sorry. What's the difference in the mk1 and mk3 door step/ lower quarter repair panel please

Mk3 is the first with wind up windows. The whole door area is different, as far as the step is concerned, the bit flush with the door skin joins square to the A pillar,  the Mk2  is radiused  at the front the same as the rear.

 

I could've explained it better, but if you look at pictures with the 2 types of doors it should be obvious how the step and A Panels line up with the two. The front of the internal hinged door needs to go inwards when the door is opened, so needs a clear space behind the front edge, the external hinge door all moves outwards because of where the hinges swivel.

I always thought that my 1990 Carb Cooper was a Mk4, but is it a Mk5?

Mk.1, Mk.2, and the Mk.3 up until about 1976 had a proper solid mounted twin tower-bolt front sub-frame. Then they went to the awful rubber-mounted front sub-frame.
