The airbox is currently fed via the NACA ducts in the bodysides and will also be fed via a pair of clear NACA ducts which will be let into the rear quarter glass (hence the hoses sat doing nothing at the moment). Unfortunately, the clear ones are on back order at the mo' and won't be here until mid May.
The airbox, and cold air feed has always been part of the plan from day one so I'm not sure how long it's taken in total. The lower half is GRP- which I had to make a mould for, and the upper half is part GRP from another mould I made, and part ally.
I figured if I could somehow draw cooler air into the carbs, it would be worth a few extra ponies (which will probably be cancelled out by the extra weight!) so that's what I set out to do.
Havn't been up the road yet (no seats or screen in yet)- just about 50ft up the drive whilst sitting on the floor, then nearly laid an egg when I needed to stop at the end! Must bleed the brakes again!!!!

With 180 ponies your car should go like stink- reckon I'd struggle to see which way you went! Vauxhall 16v engines sound awesome on throttle bodies too. Have you made a start yet? You've got to start a project page on here when you get under way with it, and as soon as poss' bring it round and we'll go for a cruise. If you need any hindrence with anything, let me know - what I lack in skill I make up for with enthusiasm, and my angle grinder!!
All the best

yep - started a project page - theres a link in there in my photo gallery on the 16vmini forum. i've stripped the front back to the bulkhead and nearly finished prepping it ready to take the new subframe. once thats on i can tack up the clubby front. like you say, i'm just waiting for bits a bob to come.

Couldn't of done it better except for one thing, the fitment of the rear bootlid looks wavy but apart from that i love it

Unfortunately I'm absolutely snowed under at work at the moment, so I'm putting in 55+ hrs a week, and juggling the new kitchen as well. This, coupled with the fact that I really don't enjoy wiring means that nothing's happened on the mini for a while, but I'm hoping to make some progress at the weekend....

I just stummbed across your project thread,
nice retro look. I'm interested to know how you get on with the cold air ducts.
nice project,

The bulkhead is fabricated from 1.6mm ally sheet, then trimmed (not very well) in a technical looking automotive fabric. I got the end of a roll given to me by a business associate, and have just about enough left to do some door cards if need-be.
The airbox is currently fed via the NACA ducts in the bodysides and will also be fed via a pair of clear NACA ducts which will be let into the rear quarter glass (hence the hoses sat doing nothing at the moment). Finally got the "glass" and clear naca ducts, so I've fitted the rear screen and quarter glass. I've also fitted the door glass, but I'm not fitting the doors until the very last thing for obvious reasons. The front screen is also going to be one of the last things fitted.
I've ditched the mini harness and I'm starting from scratch after having seen the light - no pun intended.
