do space frames have to be built out of seamless tubing?
isnt the reason for seamless tubing so you can get the same strength in a smaller diameter than normal tubing?

ps ollie was thinking about spraying the city orange and detail with cf

progress from today and yetserday on the donnor car

yesterday i pulled out the dash, looms, heater matrix,, steering colum and various surrounding brackets

and today i pulled out the complete engine (minus gear box because it was already out) front subframes, steering rack and wisbones as one complete unit

had a bit of a problem with a couple the (even with my impact gun) subframe mounting bolts, so out came the blow torch then attacked them with the gun and they were out

the engines now in it nice (sorta) warm home in the garage

NEXT JOB: cut out the mini's back floor!

had a burst of energy last night and i was getting bored just sitting around, then i realised i was still in my work cloths, so offf out to the garage i went and i got a bit snip happy with the tin snips!

Hey gaz its me Andy looks like its goin well but where do you plan on sitting in that thing, lol on top of the block or u goin mr bean style with the chair on da roof lol. Nah im joking mate it looks like its starting to progress nicely. keep it up.

nah i was thinking more along the style of taking up yoga and sitting under the bonnet!! lol

your not kidding that its a big engine and it hasnt even got the gear box on it, i think its gonna be about as wide as the oppening that i've cut out!!!!!!!!!

got rid of the vw today, wohoo the drives getting a bit clearer!!

also managed to persuade my boss to lend me one of the migs from work, full size trade migs way shed loads, and then i had to try and carry the bottle, full size and three quarter full, ouch!!!!!

hopefully i'm gonna persuade him to let me buy it off of him, because its not used at all really, and its just gathering dust in the corner of the workshop

240v yes but it uses a 32amp big plug!!! having to get my old man to wire up the garage early (building massive three story extension at the mo) so that i can use it, he's threatend me with a coin meter in line

also done a bit of painting on the front, luverly black hamerite

change the plug to what ever fits...

its average draw is 20 amps, it would kill a normal plug and for ever be triping the breaker, i need the plugs installed any way, plus its only on loan at the moment, the sockets only a tenner any way and the fuse board was going to be installed at a later date as well, plus being that we are currentley building the extension aswell, if the building inspector came round and saw dodgy wiring we would be up the creak with out a paddle or a boat

you are so right. I contimplated a bunch of options myself, then just changed the plug & still going ...your project is looking very good & is a nice change from the vtec....
