I have fitted new 7.5 inch drive flanges, brand new and one of them seems so have play on the splines,
it just seems really loose as if its been machined out too much,
or could it be the splines on my cv that are worn? doubtfull as the 8.4 flange fitted tight,
any ideas?
surely the splines should interlock tightly?

Some after-market parts do come with some strange tolerances. Where did you buy them from?
The CV splined shafts should be a nice slide fit into the drive flanges.
Send the flanges back and ask for a refund.

Don't use it if loose!

Look very carefully at the non splined bit... the smaller radius on the flange and the biggest on the CV.

Look for \_/ not \/ and vice versa

I bet your CV's are shagged

They are from minisport/ how do i know if its the flange or the cv, the passenger side is all done and ok so dont really want to mess around taking that side off and trying it on the drivers side, my old flanges for the 8.4inch setup fitted tight so surely its just got to be that the one flange has been machined out too much?

Any play in the drive flange will cause your disc to warp soonish, and its not safe too..

is it a common problem for the cv splines to wear? just swapped the flanges over and the flanges fit pretty tight on the passenger side but are loose on the drivers side,
think i need new cv,s?

Yes mate, you need new a cv to be safe, because worn splines can lead to a sudden failure.

Obviously a CV problem then - if both are snug on one, and loose on the other! And n o -i've never come across that problem - it would suggest it must have been running with the securing nut loose!

Well my new cv,s came today from moss, still have the same problem, the drive flange rocks on the cv even with everything tightened up so it must be the drive flanges, my head in going to explode pretty soon!
